Car launch 2017
Discussion
I always knew it was coming but seeing the cars it just emphasises how badly the rule makers have gone completely the wrong way. Making the cars 5 even 10 seconds a lap with increased aero is not going to make F1 any more exciting whatsoever. And it will continue to prevent cars getting close to those in front. It also ensures that the richest team win given how expensive aero development is. Also a complete waste of money compared to powertrain development

I was lucky enough as a normal fan to win a golden ticket and be part of the audience. From Andrew Benson's (BBC writer) tweet pic below, I'd say 1/3 company (left), 1/3 press and media (centre), 1/3 fans and winners (who were the lot on the right taking photos).
With the launch itself, followed by a great tour of the Technology Centre and then lunch with a brief driver visit, was a fab day out. Spoke to James Allen in the queue who I have been listening to for years, and even excited to spot the various team members I've seen on TV over the years. Great fan outreach, and we'll see if the "no promises" expectations can be beaten.
My photos all seem to add upside down - so will try add a couple more later...
So what is that room then? Is it just set up for this or is it like some kind of McLaren council chambers straight from the set of 2001 ?With the launch itself, followed by a great tour of the Technology Centre and then lunch with a brief driver visit, was a fab day out. I'd never tire of having a team meeting in there!

The Ferrari needs to drop the we're not really sponsored by Marlboro logo even tho Phillip Morris give us millions each year and while they are at it go back to proper Ferrari ri blood red
There is no "proper" Ferrari red. If you look at all the Ferraris there have been in both racing sports car and Grand Prix racing going right back to the foundation of the company as a separate entity just after World War 2, you will see numerous shades of red used.At one point in the late 1990s when Marlboro sponsorship was at its most obvious, they did indeed change the shade of red to something much closer to what you would see on a Marlboro fag packet.
But for quite a few years now the red they use is darker than what's on the ciggie box.
Don't forget Ferrari is not red because it's Ferrari - it's red because it's Italian.

Williams car properly unveiled, looks extremely basic and undeveloped...
Either they aren't showing the barge boards because they've got something special and they're keeping it quiet, or they're going without them for the low downforce high speed setup again, or the boards are fugly and they wanted to make the car look better. And moar shark fin.

Because the rear wing is lower and wider, its more in line with turbulence from the suspension parts, the fin is there to direct the air and reduce the turbulence

And how many of those have a large presence on the cars? A small logo doesn't make a livery.... I typed my post quick but it doesn't take a huge step to get the point being made...
I wonder why Mclaren don't promote their Automotive division in very large letters on their car?!DanielSan said:

Most of those companies are "partners", which means major sponsors.Size of logo has little correlation to the level of sponsorship, if it did these guys would be paying billions, right ?

10 pages of moaning about overdeveloped aeronon these cars, too many fussy bits and tacked on after thoughts, Williams appear with hardly any and then...
Sorry, you seem to have missed the part where I state if that's a good/bad thing aesthetically.. l354uge said:
