Grip on tap.

Pretty amazing.

Anyway - small bit of business for when Tommunster turns up.

From the first test thread

You're on.

I will settle for a Mercedes 1-2 as that is easy to define.

We can then have a friendly debate about what constitutes a class B car!
The bet is £10 I give to charity if another car gets on front row, or if it is Merc 1-2 you give £10 to charity.
You seem to be saying you don't think Merc will be the car to beat again.

I fundraiser/volunteer here from time to time and I am sure they would be grateful for a tenner.

Thanks old sport
Quoted for prosperity.

I try staying away from the term, but he really is the mother of all trolls.

I hope next time he puts a bet on that he leaves Ph.

He's posted numerous replies in the F1 forum so he's definitely around, maybe just banned from the GP thread?

No doubt he's doing the right thing and will post a screen grab soon yes

No sadly I was denied access to the F1 Oz race thread because I reported someone for talking about 'bombing my Granny' in the War. I found it crass and worse as my Gran was Jewish.
But anyway I got the ban. Such is life.

Anyway I shall donate £10 to charity no problem at all.

I enjoyed the race, a German won after all and a real one at that.
Stroll is worse than I thought, way way out of his depth and this is guy who has had access to more testing in an F1 car than many others before him.
But Massa did ok. Shame Merc employed team orders and Bottas had to back off, but he was faster than Lewis.
From a team view it was Ferrari, Merc, RBR and Williams. So not far off.

I'll donate my tenner but I won't be posting any proof as I don't want people having access to my details, but rest assured donating a tenner to charity will be my pleasure.

I think that was more appropriate to the people who only watch F1 for overtaking and action. Or Lewis fans. I really enjoyed the race able to watch it all before the kids and wife woke up which is always a bonus to early morning races!

Any proof of these team orders? I'm sure they would have broadcast those messages as it would have been gold for the coverage.

For some reason I thought you were a Lewis fan.

As Lewis would say "my bad" frown

After last year, its pretty clear that Merc rarely use team orders (other than "pick up the pace, Lewis" at Abu Dhabi as he backed Nico into the pack)

there's no way they would deploy orders at the first race and especially as Valtteri didn't even get within DRS range

No worries, it was always, I thought, done in a jovial tone, so I am quite happy to be proved wrong if it
a) means a charity gets something, however small.
and
b) the result was good for the sport. i.e. change of winning car.

I am really surprised at just how poor Stroll was. Worse for him Gio being so impressive without having spent a year in Williams old car testing and use of Williams simulation whenever he wanted.
It's like 80 million has been spent to prove he wasn't ready yet... hopefully for his sake he can turn it around and learn quickly.

Both Bottas and Lauda said there were no team orders in post race interviews, so either they both lied or someone here made it up. Tough one that.

In all fairness I doubt they would admit any team orders. It was early in the morning and I was sure I did see Bottas closing the gap to Lewis and being faster, Brundle seemed to be suggesting the the 'asked to back off'.
I was still reeling from Crofty bloke banging on bout blue flags for much longer than he should of been allowed... what a muppet, ban blue flags?! What the hell?

Anyway for Bottas the best he ever qualified at Oz was 15th, so he had a strong race IMO, finished just behind Lewis, the worlds fastest driver...
