Any proof of these team orders? I'm sure they would have broadcast those messages as it would have been gold for the coverage.
Both Bottas and Lauda said there were no team orders in post race interviews, so either they both lied or someone here made it up. Tough one that.
In all fairness I doubt they would admit any team orders. It was early in the morning and I was sure I did see Bottas closing the gap to Lewis and being faster, Brundle seemed to be suggesting the the 'asked to back off'.
I was still reeling from Crofty bloke banging on bout blue flags for much longer than he should of been allowed... what a muppet, ban blue flags?! What the hell?

Anyway for Bottas the best he ever qualified at Oz was 15th, so he had a strong race IMO, finished just behind Lewis, the worlds fastest driver...
They wouldn't need to admit team orders...we'd have all heard it on the radio!

F1 must be new to you or something because when you stick two drivers into the same car it shouldn't be a surprise that all things being equal the difference between them is only likely to be a few tenths (in this era of racing).

I've been getting abuse for daring to suggest the closeness of drivers if they had better tools to do the job. Weirdly after watching Stroll over the weekend I've shifted somewhat regards that as he was so poor in that Williams. Most drivers are and have been pretty close over the past seasons but been in better or worse cars etc...but Stroll just should not be there IMO.

I'm pretty sure not every single team rado message goes to air? Anyway Brundle planted the seed go abuse him on twitter or whatever else it is people like you do.

I'm unconvinced that's the reason.

Have you considered that Lewis realised he was not going to catch and pass Vettel so he eased off to preserve the car?

Yes and what if Bottas didn't want to do that? Or if Bottas's tyres came to him due to the way he went about the race. Like I said Brundle planted the seed, find him on twitter if you feel offended on Lewis's behalf..

You're correct, not all team radio goes on air. The director picks the juicy/best stuff. There's normally a transcript somewhere of all team radio that you can read after the fact.

Eta: Toto has said they turned the engine down on Lewis pretty early on when they realised he couldn't win.

Guys could we please keep race discussion to the Main F1 thread here:-

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

This thread it appears was just raised to ensure that a bet was honoured, which appears it now has been.
