Not normally into these grand theories etc. but with Lewis still having his focus firmly on winning for the first time after he has won a championship and Bottas clearly unmotivated I wonder whether the team have sat down after Lewis's WC confirmation in Mexico and decided to go for Schumacher's win and WC records... just a thought as Lewis is only 18 wins away now and 2 WCs of course.
I wonder if part of that has been to still keep Bottas in a supporting role and hence the lack of motivation this weekend when he might reasonable have expected some focus to fall on him so the team's number 2 driver could go into the winter a bit happier.
And he did get the highest season points record as a result. That said if Bottas had been able to get/keep in contention then with Kimmi out he was on for third overall as it is he got knocked back to 5th. I wonder if part of that has been to still keep Bottas in a supporting role and hence the lack of motivation this weekend when he might reasonable have expected some focus to fall on him so the team's number 2 driver could go into the winter a bit happier.
Anyone notice in the interview with Lewis after the race, question was;
"Who will bring the fight to you next season?" (along those lines) and Lewis' reply was;
"Seb, Max and whoe.. [Paused] Valtteri in the car next to me" (obviously not word for word, but close enough)
Maybe nothing, but interesting with the pause, maybe just thinking of his reply or maybe making sure nothing slips out.

Ofcourse.
MS brought a small team of British talent across, but the majority were Italian and it's an Italian company.
By contrast Mercedes F1 is a wholly British company pretending to German.
They even play the German national anthem for the "Silver Arrows".
Merc F1 has as much lineage to the Silver Arrows as a digestive biscuit.
Who gives a fk? You've been prattling on & on. MS brought a small team of British talent across, but the majority were Italian and it's an Italian company.

It's of no great importance
Ah the bankroll !
If McLaren ever get back onto the top step we will hear the Kuwait national anthem

Get over it, it doesn't matter

I thought Ferrari were an Italian company based in Italy with fresh pasta served to its Italian engineers at Maranello each lunch time ?
Rory Bryne (South African) designed the cars with the technical direction by Ross Brawn (British) with Nigel Stepney (British) as Chief Mechanic. I suspect that's what the poster is getting at.I thought Ferrari were an Italian company based in Italy with fresh pasta served to its Italian engineers at Maranello each lunch time ?
Post spygate a lot was made by the more provocative Italian press of the ferrari team not being quite that italian.

If Ferrari set up in Britain as a British company with all British talent, would it be a British team and play the British national anthem ?
No team is a nationality. Green, white, red and blue cars went out some years ago. Every team is international. There's bits from here are there in all of them. Most boards are multinational. There's no team with all one nationality of mechanics, designers and engineers. We should remove all flags, all national anthems, apart from those of the circuit. My family is British. I'm half Irish, my wife is 1/4 Irish. I've got grandkids who are half Japanese and others who are half Irish. Oh, and I've got a half Polish daughter-in-law. Flags and anthems are rather yesterday I think.Nico Rosberg has dual nationality and picks and chooses the one that might be most beneficial.

So where do you set the bar in a modern international environment?
1.Company domicile.2. Largest headcount proportion of factory talent
Source of bankroll is academic.

1. FIA should drop team national anthems
2. All Mercedes F1 cars to carry large "MADE IN BRITAIN" stickers

Does anyone but sparta6 have a problem with this?
Never been anyone but sparta6 having this problem, he's been having this problem for ages too.If Mercedes want to use talent to build their cars why not?
I can buy British cars built all over the continent of Europe, all over the world as things are going
I can buy Japanese cars built in the UK
Should I only buy when they were built at a Japanese factory?
Sparta6 needs...

There is a simple fix for this misrepresentation from Mercedes;
1. FIA should drop team national anthems
2. All Mercedes F1 cars to carry large "MADE IN BRITAIN" stickers
Does this only apply to F1 teams, or should we also admit that Chris Froome is Kenya's first ever Tour de France Winner and Max Verstappen is only the second best driver to ever come out of Belgium?1. FIA should drop team national anthems
2. All Mercedes F1 cars to carry large "MADE IN BRITAIN" stickers

It was a good season, but best since the 80s?
1997, 1998, 2000, 2007, 2008, 2012 were all contenders for that role. My personal favourite being 2007 and Kimi winning from nowhere as McLaren melted down.
Or 2010 where it went down to the last race with 4 possible winners.1997, 1998, 2000, 2007, 2008, 2012 were all contenders for that role. My personal favourite being 2007 and Kimi winning from nowhere as McLaren melted down.
2005 and 2006 were better too with some mega overtaking and classic fights that have gone down in history (Japan '05 and Imola '06 anyone).
Good season, not great. Only two title contenders and we've had more cars capable of winning races in seasons gone by, hence Paddy Lowe's recent comments. Still a massive improvement on 2014-2016 and next year looks even more positive!
Interesting Lewis' comments at the end regarding next year's title rivals - he didn't mention Leclerc... he could be in for a rude awakening
