Following on from the liberty media meeting with shareholders, I happened upon these podcasts with Matthew Carter, ex CEO of lotus/manor which are fascinating, obviously not an ass kisser, he provides some real insight.

Unrelated to his podcast but check this gem out

Maybe now bernies gone things are different but he is a tell it like it is guy, makes a real change. The podcasts are called 'missed apex' and have hardly any views, but I learned more in a couple of hours than 20 years of the normal clones like coulthard etc. Talks about pay drivers and who gets what etc. Some very interesting comments from an 'outsider' about liberty media shortcomings too. The guy 'hosting' the podcast is a little full on, but the guest content is diamond.

Lol this is the same Missed Apex Podcast who recently exceeded a million downloads, the one that nobody listens to?

It’s my favourite podcast. Matthew Carter is a great source, MAP have also done about 23 podcasts so far with Joe Saward who is a cynical old Hector but very knowledgeable if you can stand to listen, they have regular input from tech whizz Matthew Somerfield and the regular lineup of Spanners / Trumpets / Sparkles do a good job of punditry and strike a good balance between fact, opinion and banter.

I started listening to them when Joe moved over.

The host is a little full on, (but I think Joe has been coaching him as he has tempered through the year) and he is pretty passionate.

I prefer it to the Autosport and Motorsport podcasts (which have really gone downhill)

I think Spanners is great, It's Miserable old Joe and his general disdain for people that irks me

I can’t quite figure out if it’s just an act and he’s trying too hard to be a miserable old sod?

Matt Trumpets I’m not as keen on, I quite like the host however. Who’s the totally annoying young one who tries to be contrary and “controversial” at every opportunity?

He reminds of that fast show sketch “I’m crazy” character.

Jake Sampson? with the hat? Must be him. He's totally annoying and wrong about everything. You surely can't be talking about Chris 'Rainbow Sparkles'.

As a miserable old sod I can tell you that most of us are this way because we don't want to work hard to be positive. It's so much easier to face the truth.

I was once in a meeting where a bouncing young lad, promoted too quickly, proposed an earth-shattering new idea. The suggesting was that it would revolutionise policing. I pointed out that it had been tried three times in the last 12 years and each time it failed for the same reasons. The meeting ended earlier than scheduled – so a result there – presumably so the young guy, who reminded me of Tigger, could go off into a corner and cry. Outside, the superintendent had a go at me for being negative. I pointed out I was the only one at the meeting who’d done any research on the matter.

I might be a negative, miserable old sod, but I am often right. We normally are.

This makes me intensely glad to work in a time and place where innovation is championed, and stupid questions and outlandish ideas welcomed. I don't know much about police work but I've yet to encounter a working environment where shame is a constructive tool.

Spanners (aka the wally) occasionally pops up on BBC Norfolk and Cambs radio too. Great to see all his (and his team) hard work paying off. The Carter episodes are a wonderful insight, and Joe "insert wrestling name here" Saward is equally great value.

Definitely one of my favourite podcasts. Agree tho, Jake with the silly hat is a bit OTT and reactionary, will take a contrary stance that's completely wrong.
