Where does Carlos go now?

Carlos would be mad to go to Red Bull, it's toxic and about to lose its dominant power train for a completely untested replacement, funded by a company about to fall apart in an internal civil war.
If i was him I'd go to Mercedes or Aston Martin.
Couldn’t agree more. RB is a toxic environment for the second driver, Carlos and Alex Albon should give it the widest of berths. If i was him I'd go to Mercedes or Aston Martin.
The historic dynamics and politics at play with Max, Jos, Horner and Marko are evil.
And then there is all the more recent drama to contend with.
No way.
Just to add, I think Carlos would give Max a proper hard time in the car, could he potentially be better, and that just wouldn’t be tolerated.

Any driver with with an ounce of ambition would give their first born to be in the 2nd Redbull.
That car is a rocket ship and the only one on the grid with a shout at a wdc.
Have an actual chance at a wdc or a race win or zero chance in what's left on the grid as both Ferrari seats are tied up.
To go merc would be suicide the car is st and that's not changing anytime soon the team haven't even got a clue what's wrong "oh but the simulation says it should be fast" a 7 time wdc and future wdc in the 2nd car can't get it to near the front so I doubt Sainz would suddenly be a race winner or wdc contender in it.

I still think there is a fair chance that three of the above individuals might not be part of Red Bull Racing by this time next year. The historic dynamics and politics at play with Max, Jos, Horner and Marko are evil.

Yep, but if Max is at Red Bull he probably won't want Carlos going there. That car is a rocket ship and the only one on the grid with a shout at a wdc.

That said, if CH is looking to flex his muscles in the internal political battles within RBR he may want to go all in on signing Carlos and getting behind him (on equal terms with Max), it would keep both drivers on their toes and give RBR the sort of return they’re looking for from having such a fast car.
I can't see any announcements on the way any time soon, everyone's going to be biding their time waiting for someone else to blink. Once that happens the dominoes will start to fall very quickly.
First will be for Red Bull to sort themselves out. Yes, it's good entertainment but realistically I can't see them letting Max go, and likewise why on earth would Max want to leave for another team? It would be great for F1 if he did, but it's just not going to happen. Once everything settles and it becomes clear he's staying then everyone else will sort themselves out, probably over the summer once we have a better idea of each car's potential.
Assuming Merc start to get a bit more competitive I can see Carlos there for 2025. If not then I reckon Aston Martin could be on the cards, with Alonso off to Sauber/Audi. The 2nd RB seat is anyone's guess.
My predictions for 2025 (on the basis that Merc get their act together and out-perform Aston over the whole of the 2024 season)
Red Bull - Verstappen / Lawson
Ferrari - Hamilton / LeClerc
McLaren - Norris / Piastri
Mercedes - Russell / Sainz
Aston - Stroll / TBC
Sauber - Alonso / Perez
Alpine - Gasly / Ocon
RB F1 - Tsunoda / TBC
Haas - Bearman / Hulkenburg
Williams - Albon / TBC

Putting Lawson in the Red Bull would be madness, yes he did ok in his outings with Torro Rosso, but he's had a mediocre junior career at best. I'm amazed that he's even their reserve driver considering the size of program they run.First will be for Red Bull to sort themselves out. Yep, but like I say, that 2nd seat is anyone's guess at the moment. Not so long ago it looked like Ricciardo was a genuine contender, but obviously that's not worked out. Yuki might be beating him, but does anyone think he's got a real chance of a seat at Red Bull? Everyone slates Perez every time he doesn't finish on the podium so would be surprised if he keeps his seat. So is Lawson that much of an outside shot?
On paper Carlos would be the logical choice, but there's obviously politics going on behind the scenes which makes it less likely.

Knowing RB they may just keep Perez, no way does he deserve the seat but he is no hassle which might be what RB are looking for, I see Carlos heading for Mercedes. My guess would be Albon, I don't think they would have kicked out if he had finished the two races where Lewis punted him off. I would imagine he would also insist on appropriate clauses to stop them kicking him out of the seat before the end of his contract as well this time.
Sainz and Verstappen have history, one of the reasons given for promoting Max to Red Bull was the tension between him and Carlos.

Yuki is there because of Honda, and after next year RB loose the Honda connection to Aston Martin. I don't know where Yuki goes then, as I don't see him as an Aston Martin driver. He's not shown enough to lead a big team, so there's no room for him there other than reserve driver while Lance is blocking the second race seat.

I think that is lazy logic, if Honda were anything more than a paid supplier you may have a point, but they aren’t and Red bull are going to a rival in 2026 they have no reason to select a driver to keep them happy.Gassing Station | Formula 1 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
