Let me see, will I get up before dawn to watch Max romp into the distance, with Perez starting in 6th or so due to qualifying but still having such a car advantage he is able to make it into P2 by lap 30. Uh, no.

Hoping for Williams to have a good car here, Albon went well in 2023 until he binned it anyway.

Albon points finish possibly even a P8?

Unfortunately I think Mercedes are going to really struggle in the high speed sections here could be a Q2 exit for Hamilton if he cant get on top of the car.

I like the 4:00 am race start, early alarm and race done before the children wake up!

Bearman or Sainz.... that's the question.....?

Hopefully Sainz, because as Vaseur keeps saying saying, Ollie needs to focus on his F2 program as there's no drive in F1 yet.... He can't do that if he keeps getting dragged out of it. His chances of winning the F2 championship are diminishing each race.

4am is brutal isn’t it? Last year it was 6am which is much easier to deal with. Wrestling with whether to watch this one live I must admit. I’ll maybe see if qualifying throws up anything interesting. Any news on Carlos’ recovery?
Hum that means having to watch C4 coverage and RB promotion. Which is worse biggrin

Being pedantic... it isn't an early start "for anyone", the race is at noon my time so a reasonable time for a change smile

It's also a shame to see the voting for 2nd place simply because you don't like the most likely winner frown

OT slightly, Daniel has been spotted at home (well one of his homes) in the past few days smile

I may have mentioned before, last time I saw Daniel in person was 20/10/2002 at Murray Walker's book signing event at South of Perth Yacht club smile Daniel was in the queue with his Dad to get Murray's autograph... wonder if Murray ever got Daniels? rofl

As far as I can tell it's more that there's no sport in predicting the winner, not that they are disliked as such (even if some obviously feel that way).

That would be awesome for the home crowd if there’s a local on the podium - and it’s somewhat unlikely to be Daniel these days sadly.

On the subject of the crowd, they’d better not disappoint with the “Christian Horny” banners and general piss-taking of the Red Bull team boss - something that was never going to happen at the first two races.
As dumb as many Aussies might be, I'd still hope the F1 fans here are above the pathetic school yard level of many on PH F1 threads!

Ah poor diddums... clear to see who the real F1 fans are, we generally have to stay up ridiculously late or get up ridiculously early to watch Grands Prix live, but we manage to!

Not looking good for the Mercs as they admit they have "fundamental issues" with their W15 car

I don’t mind the early start. In fact I quick like it. It means I can wake up whenever I want and watch the GP (streamed via F1 TV) without waiting around. Also means there is zero chance of finding out the result before I watch it.

I really hope Lewis finds some form here but I fear he won’t.

My Sunday - wake up, hear the result on the radio, check the BBC race report, decide whether to record the C4 highlights, watch in the evening ...

I used to be way more committed than that (esp when the Sebring 12 was the same weekend) but that's now where me and F1 are right now.

This might be an example for where F1TV is a godsend.

For the first time in years I certainly won't bother getting up early to watch it live. I'll be watching it recorded on Sky F1from about 6am onwards. On a plus side, it means there will be less "live chat" from me about wasabi.

It has absolutely nothing to do with whether anyone is liked or disliked. The fellow who puts these threads together is a Verstappen supporter.

The reason we don't vote on who the winner will be is that we all already know who it will be and so it would be pointless.

At a stretch I might wake up at 5am on Saturday for quali.

4am for the race!? No chance. I would if it were a more interesting circuit, perhaps.

Can we have a separate GP thread for those of us that want to watch it 'live' together at 9am? biggrin

This and the next two races are afternoon for me in SG. So definitely will be watching. All the European races are around 9-10pm. It's the Americas that are the killer at 4am.

Even though Max will most likely win, I'm still eager to see how the rest get on, fighting for the last podium.

I guess this is how 100mtr sprinters felt for the best part of a decade. Silver is the best one can hope for when on the track with Mr Bolt!

The difference is that Bolt did not have special shoes.
