I guess this is how 100mtr sprinters felt for the best part of a decade. Silver is the best one can hope for when on the track with Mr Bolt!
The difference is that Bolt did not have special shoes.
It’s more like how the 100m runners of the 1980s felt, competing against Ben Johnson and Florence Griffith-Joyner.

nah, it's more like mercedes are a bit crap, and you want them to be really good. But they're a bit crap.

Not really. I’m sure most would be happy with a bit of uncertainty and a number of different winners throughout the season.

Given they were all also doped up, not really sure how they would credibly be outraged either apart from being obvious hypocrites......

Yep, the blame for the current lack of excitement is purely with Mercedes, McLaren and Ferrari- they need to build a faster car, simple as. Red Bull is doing at outstanding job.

It's also a shame to see the voting for 2nd place simply because you don't like the most likely winner frown
It has absolutely nothing to do with whether anyone is liked or disliked. The fellow who puts these threads together is a Verstappen supporter.

The reason we don't vote on who the winner will be is that we all already know who it will be and so it would be pointless.
Paul we finally agree on something!!

As dumb as many Aussies might be, I'd still hope the F1 fans here are above the pathetic school yard level of many on PH F1 threads!

Ah poor diddums...
We’ll need a new irony metre for the thread, the last one blew up there.

Nothing to do with the rules being changed them to favour red bull style cars and hinder the mercs. High rake cars, no party mode etc.

This will be the first Australian GP I haven't set my alarm for to watch live.

I'll watch the full race when I get up.

The new regulations have been in place for a few seasons now and the other teams feel further away than ever.

Does anyone know if F1 is free to air in Spain? I’m there over the weekend but don’t fancy setting up a VPN to watch on my phone

4am is brutal isn’t it? Last year it was 6am which is much easier to deal with. Wrestling with whether to watch this one live I must admit. I’ll maybe see if qualifying throws up anything interesting. Any news on Carlos’ recovery?
Ah poor diddums... clear to see who the real F1 fans are, we generally have to stay up ridiculously late or get up ridiculously early to watch Grands Prix live, but we manage to!
Was that honestly called for?
Fair call, my apologies. It was meant in jest really but can see it didn't come across that way

I will not see this GP live. It's not only that I'm bitter for opting for the last GP and missing watching the fabulous, exciting and thrilling, although ultimately depressing, England rugby match on at the same time. Perhaps a bit.

On the bright side for the rest of you, this will probably be the most exciting GP in the hybrid era.

Why not? Easy enough to do. Express VPN are doing a free month trial I think. Works a treat!

I'm going for Piastri in 2nd assuming Checo messes up qualifying, otherwise it will be Red Bull one two.

I wonder if Perez has finally admitted to himself, that he can't beat Max. So perhaps he'll not push so hard in qualifying. Could be a heck of a lot of Redbull 1-2 podiums this year.

Likely a 8 min YouTube highlight race for me this year.

0230 WTF. Not sure why the rest of the civilised world should be punished because a few people decided to live in the arse end of it.

I'm joking, but seriously, the Aus GP should have been dropped years ago. Call it CO2 reduction of something.

Analogy only works if Bolt decided to start identifying as female.

Looks like not many will be getting up for this one. Can't blame anyone, it would be particularly annoying to get up in pretty much the middle of the night to see the same old demonstration yet again.

Race is 8am for me, and I’m still not sure if I can be arsed to watch live. I’ll get up when I get up, grab a coffee and put on the replay at 1.5x speed until something interesting happens.

Or them spending whatever they wanted knowing the consequences would be inconsequential to the baked in gains.

That said they still had to do a good job, which they did.

But they still cheated.
