Not even about racing really. F1 is suffering increasing levels of tribalism. Aus Supercars is a racing series built upon tribalism in the first place. And now there is no actual war to be waged, there is no 'Australian' side to win anymore. Not that there was an Australian car industry for a long time anyway.

Those guys need to come up with something new. Perhaps go racing for the sake of racing, not race-ism (national pride, whatever)...
Personally I think tribalism is the absolute least of F1s worries at the moment.
In fairness, I didn't say it was a big problem, just that it's growing in F1 terms. I suspect if we weren't debating it on an internet forum it wouldn't be half as obvious too!

I would rank manipulation of GP's as the biggest issue with F1 today. Although I'm sure that commercially, that's seen as less of an issues and more as a fantastic idea - if only people would stop getting caught doing it.

Rachel Brookes on Sky Sports News reporting that Sainz is expected to drive the Ferrari, but Bearman is on standby.

Presumably the Spaniard has a meeting with the quack on Friday morning, and if he’s cleared to drive in P1 will take a view after that session. Hard to believe he had an appendectomy only two weeks ago.

Albon? had one a couple of seasons ago and was back quickly. Didn't he have a bad reaction to the anesthetic?

Yes, we'll remembered.

For all those who like a lie in on a Sunday. Sky Sports have the following after the live Grand Prix showing:

Australian GP Highlights: 0730-0830

Full rerun of earlier schedule;

Grand Prix Sunday (build up): 0830-0925
Australian F1 Grand Prix: 0925-1130
Followed by Chequered Flag and Notebook.

But why not just watch the full race as soon as you happen to wake up? F1TV, you can watch a replay of the race 90 seconds after the start, an hour later, 6 hours later or 12 years later.

I'm confused as to why SKY can't just allow viewers to immediately stream anything they missed.

They did that last year, only to royally ps off everyone who got up and switched on the replay at the scheduled race start time, to find out that the live race had run late and the post-race show was still on, where they were discussing the result.

If you can, record the live race and replay that when you wake up. Or use F1TV instead.

Surely it's just a matter of setting the timer on the VHS?

I watched an F1TV stream, and Crofty was on that.
Do F1TV take the Sky stream during the race?
The build up was all different, but the actual race had Crofty in it, and it made me want to self harm inside about 15seconds of listening to the obese muther fking fking ing fk.

You just click the source button to go from world feed to F1TV.

It's optional, you didn't need to sit through an entire GP listening to him at all. Sorry wink

You can even pick your favourite driver, Lewis for example, and spend the whole race just watching his in-car and listening to his radio. biggrin

My option, when watching alone, was to turn off the sound and have Radio 5lIve on. Haven't done it so far this season, and won't be up for the live race, but I expect to do it later.

Much more sensible. Very little hyperbole, screaming and errors.

Yep, anytime a cars on the attack I jump into cockpit view - that way you get to see the battle, the director can't be trusted to stick with it in the main feed!

I tried that but there was quite a time lag between sound and vision - the sound 20 or 30 seconds ahead.

Even in the UK?

I can watch live on F1TV overseas, but it's not on at all in the UK until a while after. Definitely not 90 second later unless it's changed?

I'll just watch it in the afternoon.

Saintz says he'll see how it goes in practice. He thinks it's OK, but until he gets in the car...
