Sunday Services and the future, your thoughts please

Name a car park/services near to the location where early birds can go and wait before leaving to get to the event for the start?
Donation buckets should be around but not at the entrance/exit as it causes delays.
With reg plates take identifying letters onto the online database (so mine would be JPXxxxJ for example) so the entire plates can't be nicked if it is hacked or somesuch.
One case of awful driving and your out for 12 months. Zero Tolerance.
First no show you get an email, second no show your out for 12 months unless there is a legit reason obviously.
I hope to attend a SS in 2014

ALso if you are on the list 300 out the reserve and wake up to find your def on the list but don't go, how can you get a 12 month ban. knowing you were so far off the list at 10pm the night before.
Agreed, that's why there should be some sort of online check in the night before. Rain should not effect play, your car won't melt - it's the UK you have to expect to be confronted with inclement weather from time to time.I accept people sign up straight away to get on list, but when they realise they won't be able to go they leave it until 3 nano seconds before the SS starts before removing themselves instead of the three weeks when they realised.
I would favour 2 no shows and a 12 month ban.
For those that drive like cocks then a life ban. Simples

I was a no show for Goodwood. I had all good intentions of going but on waking and seeing the weather I choose not to go. Its unfortunately too late to take your name off for anyone else to attend but we have to be realistic that the weather will stop people bringing out there cars.
My car isn't a garage queen either but its old and has to be treated as such.

I think it's fair enough some won't be able to make at the last minute. I don't think people should be treated too harshly for it. The strike rule is fair when it comes to that imho. This is also why I suggested that the guaranteed list be made smaller and the reserves be allocated on a random basis. The first 50 (or whatever percentage of the total) get promoted when folks removed themselves but others have a chance to go, potentially eliminating the hoarding of places just because.
Not saying is perfect, people would still need advance notice that they'd be going but could be an improvement. It could also mean less people attending overall which may not be acceptable for those in PH towers.

Are weather forecasts not available? My car isn't a garage queen either but its old and has to be treated as such.
There will always be some last minute cancellations, but a large amount go on late Saturday not giving others a chance to make plans
Ive only been to one sunday service and that was at silverstone, it was cold wet windy day, but i still enjoyed it have a look round all the cars there! So im happy to turn up rain or shine! As for people pulling out, i dont know whats involved when organising these events, but for somewhere like silverstone, if it was tied into a day where theres a track day going on could the SS not be held in the paddocks for the old pits, that way there plenty of room for everyone that wants to go and others wont be affected by non showers? Even if it means we have to pay a few quid to get in at the gate id still be up for it...
As or people driving like idiots, i dont really see the issue as long as theyre not putting anyone else or other peoples cars/ possessions at risk unless youve had complaints from venues holding these evnts? in which case it should be up to them if they want to ban said member from attenting events held there again so keeping track of reg numbers for this would be good...

About time to have one at Volkswagen UK?
The last time one was arranged there it didn't end well. If I remember correctly the attendee list was hijacked by a large number of VW scene owners clubs and forum members, with a result that the event had to be cancelled.
Of course there's no reason why it couldn't be given another shot if VW are willing.

We have been giving the matter of the PH/VW Sunday Service some thought over the past 24 hours and, with regret, we announce that the Volkswagen Sunday Service will be postponed. A new date will follow shortly and we would like to offer our apologies to those who have already signed up and to our hosts at VW.
Shortly after announcing the date we saw unprecedented levels of sign-up resulting in the full 400 capacity being filled within the space of 48 hours or so. Since then it has been apparent that word has spread across other motoring forums and we found ourselves in a position where attendance levels were out of our control. Not only does this cause concern for both PH and our hosts, it also means that we could not guarantee a space would be available for all those who had signed up on the attendance list.
This meet also made it clear to us that the sign-up procedure needs some work to avoid people being knocked off the list, and that will be sorted when we announce the new date. The increasing popularity of PH meets has highlighted how ineffective the current signing-up method is and we will work on a new system that offers a fair sign-up to existing members and also protects those who have already signed up when other members add their details.
PistonHeads Sunday Service meets offer members the opportunity to meet other members and view a wide variety of cars. This meet saw an influx of new members joining and, along with the publicity gathering momentum on other forums, there was a real possibility that this meet would be largely populated by cars made by the host manufacturer. Not only do our hosts want to see a wide range of PH metal, but we also want Sunday Service meets to be as diverse as possible - that's what makes them so interesting and we'll work hard to keep them that way.
Once again, we offer our apologies to those that have signed up to the original date. We are meeting with VW UK later this week and, once we have discussed the situation (and worked on the sign-up procedure), we will announce new details for this meet and a new sign up list will be created.

Accountability - Why not make it people have to confirm their attendance AGAIN say a week before the event. I bet a lot of it is people who put their name down in advance because of the mad panic only to forget about the event when it actually happens.
Keep up the good work, the one I attended at MB World was fantastic especially with the passenger rides etc, interactive is good
