On behalf of Sue and Alex who did the food for the event, I would like to thank you all for your custom.
Massive apologies for the queues, we didn't know what to expect from the day, so was very much a stab in the dark. If we have the opportunity to join you again we will bring another stall and more staff. Sue and Alex started their business very recently and are appreciative of all feedback.
From what I can see, the food was up to scratch. Just need to get the numbers right for next time smile

From my experience it looked like a great day. Hopefully next time I can join in from the other side of the stall!

Thanks again

Thanks for organising today's event, first Sunday service for me and brought my young lad along with me who quite enjoyed seeing all the cars. Wheel change challenge was good fun and managed 28. Something seconds which seemed pretty good. I've got a few photos from today which I'll post on Flickr this week. Got my Audi s2 out for a run too and was nice to have an event nearby.

Great meet today. Some amazing cars on display.

The food was definitely worth the wait.

Awesome SS today - my first one!

Perfect venue and some great rare cars on display. Hopefully some future meets are arranged for here, seems to be a good location for lots of PH'ers.

Then that would be why I thought it was such a convincing kit car! hehe

Just googled it, didn't even know it existed! In my defence, the rear quarter panel looks eerily similar to the TF!
It's not the prettiest of cars, and not very well known so it's an easy mistake to make. Still, it was such a flop that lee went on to build the M12 smile

My first visit to a SS and not too far to travel down the A6 in the mx5.

Joined an impromptu convoy with an Atom and Westfield on the way down for the last couple of miles and nearly felt out of place queuing next to the Diablo to get in, but there was a fantastic array of cars in attendance from the Mini to the LaFerrari and it's great to see such diversity in one place, much more interesting than one make owners club meets!

And thanks for the freebies too chaps!

Will definitely try to attend again next time! thumbup

Want to echo everyone's comments - thought it was an excellent event today with some great machinery to look at.

A great location for our little gang (2 x 911's, XKR, M3 and GTR coming from St Albans) and although we didn't get the chance for a spirited motorway convoy as we did on our last SS trip up to Gaydon, it did mean that I could get home for my bacon buttie in less time than it would have taken me to queue for one smile

Also nice to have a brief chat with V8 FOU on the mad Bentley track weapon. Can't wait to see the BGW!

Well done team PH thumbup

You weren't trying..! Down to the 414 and it was 2 junctions up the m1...

How many other northbound m1 travellers were caught out by the combination of roundabout-tunnel-waiting police car?

Having given it the beans under the motorway bridge, I was very much in "nothing to see here, officers" mode on the second roundabout.

Thanks to all the PH organisers who gave up their time to both arrange, organise and marshall the event, that was really great...as usual. (Nice to get some freebies too...not allowed to put PH sticker on 'precious'....so it has pride of place on the back of my motorhome!!!!..tho maybe just a little small(sticker not motorhome)...beep if anyone sees it on our travels! biggrin)
There were lovely cars on show, and added interest of Caterham and Auto Glym made for an enjoyable Sunday outing....and even the weather was great too!
We didn't have any trouble getting a very nice cuppa from the PH tent, while loads queued up at the coffee van!!!....
So, a hearty congrats on a successful Sunday Service clap

ps...I took quite a lot of pics, but can't upload due to them being 'too large' mb wise(had camera set on 'fine quality' so large files!)....so will resize or find way of linking folder as others have done!

Another great Sunday Service.

Weather was good, so had an early morning blast up on the Panigale – I’ve been to the venue before for the county show and it seems to be a good summer SS venue for the future, with plenty of space & is easy to get to.

Food, although with the aforementioned queues, was very good – far better than any of the usual car show offerings. Special mention to the “huffer” burgers – spot on biggrin

Great selection of cars (and less so on the bikes, given the great weather frown) and good to chat to some old/not-so old faces as usual.

Looking forward to the next one!

Thanks for the write up and positive review! To answer a couple of questions:

To an extent I see what you're saying about Caterham and Autoglym, but not having run and event at that venue before it is hard to know where the focus would be... But saying that I'm not sure where we could have put them to get more footfall - they were both in between the cars and the catering and the area was by far the busiest part of the event. Equally, both companies were over the moon with the day and have already expressed an interest in attending again in future so perhaps it simply wasn't an issue.

JD
Understand the issues with running an event at a new venue and some times it's not always possible to get tthe ideal set-up. Positioning Caterham/Autoglym as a corridor to the food/drink would have driven footfall or got them to interact whilst they queued up (just an idea).

As you say both Caterham and Autoglym were both happy so it's not an issue, more an opportunity to fine tune the way it flows.

We didn't have a PH stand but this is something we were already looking at... It's more complicated that it sounds but we're onto it.

In terms of stickers.... You should have been given a FREE one on entry? We've looked into custom stickers too, but they're cost prohibitive unless we charge for them, and I'm not sure that would be very popular. Don't forget we don't charge for these events!
JD
I did get a sticker, but wasn't sure if it was a PH sticker or tattoo! biggrin Again understand the cost of producing merchandise for one off events v merchandise you can use at any event. I do think the sticker for each event is a no-brainer and I'm sure members wouldn't mind paying a small £1-2 contribution.

JD PH said:
Lastly, we're looking into a way to track attendance at events to take a step towards the "3 strikes" rule you mentioned...

I'm glad you enjoyed the event and I hope that this has answered some questions.

I look forward to seeing lots of you at future events too - more details on the next PHSS will be landing tomorrow PM.

JD
Again well done to the PH team, looking forward to the next event details! biggrin

Top work PH. This is the first service I have attended. Yes the food que was a little long. But thankfully I got in it very early so was munching before most people arrived. Thanks to the guy who took this shot of my car. I completely forgot to take any.

I will go and put it on my build blog immediately.
I think that's one of mine. Get in touch if you want the original pic smile

I will echo the above - my first SS. Good venue, great cars and though the queue for the scram was a bit lengthy, it gave those of us that are new to this lark a chance to speak with some like minded sorts. And at least th food was good which made the wait worthwhile.

LaF was amazing, though my favourites were the Murcielagos and the Diablo - which sounded fantastic. Clearly I'm fast regressing to a ten year old. Really appreciated all of the owners of interesting, great, expensive or unique stuff turning out so that those of us who appreciate (but don't own) these things can get up close and drink it all in. Thanks for your generosity.

Now, I just need to get back to work so I can fill my piggy bank with some more bull-tokens!

Gutted I didn't quite make it. Got to within 5 miles of the event when the expansion tank split in half dropping my coolant all over the M1. If you saw a silver BMW with the bonnet up in the hard shoulder, that was me. The photos show what a good turn out it was so hope fully there will be another in this neck of the woods.

In which case let me offer mine, so called Gourmet burger stalls are rarely that and I usually come away feeling short changed. The prices were on a par with what is normally charged by these places.

the food however was much, much, better on Sunday. I couldn't fault the bread or the meat (so good I had 2) and whilst not eating anything vaguely looking green or tomato like, looking at those who did they ended up with a humungous burger :-)

Hopefully they are doing the food for the next one
