Can't say the driving has ever been an issue at any of the SS i've attended, either at Silverstone, HMC or Morgan. At the last JLR meet the nearest we got was a CLS63 getting a bit noisy after he's left the car park.

Upon arrival at MBW EVERYONE (myself included) was politely requested (by the Marshals/PH staff and MBW staff) to "Go easy on the loud pedal" or words to that effect as they have received complaints in the past.

Clearly this polite request was ignored by a minority.

It's not rocket science you ****s nono

It'll be a real shame if we end up no longer welcome at MBW due to the ttish actions of a few, prob one of the best SS venues on the calender

We shouldn't have to do that, everyone in attendance is an adult and despite us asking people to keep their speeds down, they ignore it.

We are not the Police and won't be taking notes of everyone's reg number but if the driving continues as it was yesterday it won't be a worry as we won't be able to hold the events any more.
I get where you're coming from. However, you should need to tell people how to drive. at such events... Yet here were are.

Perhaps taking down reg numbers is a little over the top. But it's clear talking isnt a good enough deterrent for some.
Refusing to do anything about it beyond vague threats of not having events again might not cut it ...

The 'reasonable practitioner' test when applied to motoring / motorsport orientated events would suggest that participants who do not behave in Public / semi -public areas get hefty fines ( as happens in motorcycle 'road' racing) or removed from that event and banned from subsequent ( even the dodgiest banger tracks do that )...

Actually I wasn't told that. I have hearing problems so listen very carefully when given instructions by marshals so I don't miss anything vital. If I am unsure then I ask for whatever I missed to be repeated.

As has been said though I do agree it should really be common sense - and I for one am going to be more sensible on site at future events.

Just out of curiosity, what exactly did you do?

I saw a 991 GT3 (with what looked like a teenager at the wheel) and an A45 AMG on the exit road. I'm no expert but I'd have guessed they were around 100mph when they let off.

I noticed Mercedes put a marshall in a B-class 2/3rds of the way down the exit road in an effort to slow people down after the GT3s antics.
Ill check the vbox data tonight and let you know.

And..... for your information I asked the old bloke at the start of the exit road if we had to play nice and he said ' no you're fine'. Obviously i take the risk in my own hands but there's no way I was doing anywhere close to 100mph. I only started my run half way down the road after stopping to look for my wallet.

It's common sense not to boot it or drive in a yobish manner, you shouldn't have to be told.

And it's invariably suped up shopping trolleys driving like that. Do the drivers know it looks faintly ridiculous. One of the reasons why I gave up on the ph south east meets as it felt wrong that the locals needed to endure such stupidity.

Which is exactly what I said. We all get carried away occasionally. I have already apologised. I would assume people could take that with a modicum of good grace and move on.

I sort of agree with this.

It's not like the cars were being ragged through crowds of onlookers like at LM. The exit road was pretty deserted and nobody ragged it when there was oncoming traffic.

If it says 20 mph DO 20mph, a handful of people who have to try and make themselves 10 second heroes just ruins it for the rest. If you have to put the boot in come to Spa do it in safety on the track and then we will see if you've got all the gear and no f@&;);g idea! Or not as the case may be.

Goodwood every year wink

On a serious note though, I hope I'm in the majority that actually behaves more than usual when attending something like a Sunday service. Not only is it polite to the venue owners, high profile motoring events generally encourage the police to have a higher presence in the area (take Goodwood breakfast clubs suddenly the speed cameras are everywhere.) but you also have a lot of expensive cars on the roads leading to or from the event and I don't want to ruin there day and put a dent in their car. Plus the added fact of a lot of people on foot around a venue and then as these are public venues the image that you want to portray of enthusiasts enjoying cars and not misbehaving.

Plus from 1 person messing about we all end up getting the bad reputation.

Still no denying that he done it though, you didn't specify 'and didn't get fined' thats just a risk that he decided to take.

Also i think you will find a burnout is where a car is stationary or very slowly moving whilst spinning the wheels at a high rpm causing lots of smoke, and noise. My dad simply put the throttle down and lost traction from his 40 ish year old car on a damp road and lost traction because unlike the 911's and other cars he doesn't have traction control or driver aids.
