A superb piece of British design and engineering,though when i've seen it flying it always reminds me (bowel wrenching ) of seeing one parked at the end of the runway at St. Mawgan surrounded by a few trucks on that horrible weekend in october 1962 ( i was 12) while it waited to possibly fly off to Leningrad or Murmansk. Young people just don't know the feeling.
When i was younger my father, who was building inertial guidance gyros for the Blue Steel stand off missile, took me to Farnborough air shows and i saw the vulcan with a dummy blue steel bomb, an awesome sight.
