PistonHeads Australian Grand Prix wake up

Join fellow F1 fans for the 2015 season opener and a PH event with a difference

Yes, it will be an early start! But it will be worth it, even if we do say so ourselves. The inaugural PH F1 Wake Up will be held on Sunday March 15 at Mercedes-Benz World Brooklands. Our generous hosts will supply all attendees with refreshments and breakfast.

The plan is very simple. MB-W will show the 2015 Australian Grand Prix live on a 6m x 3m screen with surround sound. We'll be in spacious tiered seats so there will be no need to argue over sofa space and we're planning on having a couple of additional screens to show the driver tracker too.

Another win for Rosberg this year?

All are welcome at this special event regardless of who you will be cheering on. Our only requirements are PH membership and a love for Formula 1! Timings are still to be confirmed but traditionally the start is around 0600 and the plan is to open 45 minutes prior to race start to watch some of the build up. Alarms will definitely need to set for silly o'clock! After the race you're welcome to wander around M-BW or head home for a well-deserved kip.

Numbers are strictly limited to 70 people (not cars) and to ensure we don't go over this we are allowing one entry per user. This sounds harsh but what we don't want is a PHer missing out on a space because a non PHer has been brought along. Everyone that wants to come along will need to add their details to the calendar. If you've got friends that want to attend, they too will need to join PH and sign up to the calendar themselves. If you have children you would like to bring along, please send me an email and we'll do our best to accommodate them wherever possible but we can't make any promises.

I've left the best bit until last though. Our first F1 wake up is free! So if you fancy watching the first F1 race of 2015 on a big screen in a comfy seat with free breakfast, put your name on the calendar and we'll see you bright and early on the March 15. Although this is a free event we do encourage you to make a donation to one of the charitable causes that Mercedes-Benz World supports, the Sam Beare Hospice (collection tins will be made available). This is optional and not mandatory.

Please make sure that your registered email address is current as we will be emailing you vital information relating to the wake up. If you do not reply to the email that is sent, unfortunately you won't be allowed in. Apologies again if this sounds strict but numbers are extremely limited and we want an F1 loving PHer in every seat.

See you there!

Why not creep out of the house, watch the race and be home with breakfast for 0900 saying it took you ages to find somewhere serving at that time on a Sunday? idea

That is a great idea - kudos for sorting it out.
Alas, too early for me, I struggle to get up for the race normally, let alone driving to MB world first!

The picture of Rosberg, the smaller photo ... Is it only me who looked at it and thought "that's a wee car on a Scalextric track"?
