  1. ##Mods - I've cleared this request through James Drake and he's happy as as long as don't mention the charity involved####
Hi there, a friend has asked me to post this up. He's after 15 volunteer drivers with "fast &/or interesting" cars who can help out providing passenger rides at a charity event at Bruntingthorpe on the 6th August.

The event is well established after being ran for the past 14 year & this will be my third time out. It's a great day out with plenty of opportunity to show off your pride and joy but please be aware that this is not a track day, it is for passenger rides, so please drive appropriately.

If you're interested then please contact Darren.Cardew@nimlok.co.uk who can provide you with much more details about the day and the charity involved.

Alternatively, if you want more info about the layout of the day I can answer but please remember I can't answer any questions about the charity involved in this thread as I don't want another thread removed.

Cheers!

That is madness, there is at least two other threads on this page alone which name a charity, would be interesing to find out the reason behind it.
Anyway back to the original topic, I would offer but I will be there anyway on the Cobra gate. Good day out and gives you the chance to give it some beans (in an appropriate way of course).

How come you are on the Cobra stand? Surely you should be on the Italian stand biggrin

They may have asked for permission to name the charity beforehand, although after getting the OK from James I did notice a few other threads about the event from the previous years.

I may be able to help out, I have a radical SR3 RSX and attend a few charity days with it but not sure it will be allowed at brunters due to noise restrictions. Can you pm me some details of the day please.

I'll also be there with mine on the TVR Northants gate, it is a fun day out with the ideal mix of speed limit free driving (subject to passenger comfort & nerve) and giving something back via a charitable cause.

I went last year and I don't remember being any talk of sound limits, my car runs without rear silencers and had no problems last year.

When I googled the event, I found d a few forums with posts about it but only one mention of noise. That had a response that there wasn't a noise test/limit... only a random forum post though so don't take it as gospel.

I took part in this event last year with the GTR Owners, providing my car for passenger runs and it is a fantastic day that raises a huge amount of money. There is lots going on around the event for family and friends and I would highly recommend it.

Zippee - There is no set time to stay until, if you need to leave then you are free to do so at any time (some people leave at lunch to refuel etc). The surface gets swept the day before but the long runway straight is never perfectly clean and, as that is where most of the cars will be in close proximity, there will be some people who get stone damage unfortunately.

MrVert - It's 7am to 5pm. Drivers are told to arrive about 2hrs early than the public so they can setup the passenger gates, do a sighting lap and get briefed on track rules etc. Every year I've been those two hours are carnage with very few people actually knowing whats going on so be prepared to be messed about. I've also not seen the actual passenger rides ever start on time either, it's usually 9.30-ish due to the confusion. It's the one area that could/should really be improved on massively for me.
