To anyone interested we are organising a rally of sorts from the UK up through Norway and into the Arctic Circle (and back) July of next year.

We have taken part in previous rallies; and have realised that paying hundreds of pounds simply to simply drive a route is a little excessive, and with no alternative found we decided we’d have a go at organising our own.

We charge nothing as we will be making the journey ourselves and simply think it will be more enjoyable with a good number of people; please have a look at our website and if you, or someone you know might be interested that would be great.

Any cars or motorcycles are welcome; regardless of engine size or age.

With no entry fee, no visas, wild camping being legal in much of Norway and the scenery and roads Norway has to offer, combined with the prospect of travelling with likeminded fools on and in a variety of ill-advised vehicles; we’re confident other’s must find this appealing too!

We will be setting off from a campsite near Amsterdam (seemed a nice central location rather than setting off from either the north or south of the UK) on July 15th and expect the round trip to take around 3 weeks!

Our website is: www.roadtoarctic.com

We hope to see you there!

Love this idea. Not something I could commit to at this point in my life, but I wish you all the best and would love to see pictures when you finished.

Looks like it could be fun. Would a 14 year old beaten about Toyota pick up be to posh? Back up truck maybe?

Can you carry our camping gear in it if we are about as planning on doing it too, but in the MX5.

No problem Neil. Seem's like it could be a lot of fun.

We have been wanting to do this for years but in the winter to see the northern lights. Will try Scotland for those instead. Found 4 of your beers in the fridge the other day!

Round trip, up to 4000 miles, most direct route would be 3000.

Temperature-wise, it's 20-25°C normwally, however up in the mountain roads they still plough and there are huge banks of snow on either side....so probabaly slightly cooler up there.

Sounds good to me, in reality people can bring whatever they want, we just want to avoid any misconception that everybody will be in a sportscar/superbike, we've had emails from people with a Suzuki Hayabusa and with a Honda he uses to deliver pizzas.

If people are interested please sign up to our newsletter, or better still think up a team name and sign up, there is no cost or obligation; and the fuller the "teams" page the better; as it currently looks a little like that nightclub you avoid because only two people are on the dancefloor!

We'll be looking at 21 days, which works out under 200 miles a day, anymore per day that that is nothing but driving, and as we have found in the past, this sounds fun...but isn't.

An updated route section is currently under construction which should answer a few of these questions; this will be online over the week and any other updates will be covered in the newsletter which will be winging it's way into the inboxes of all that subscribed to it.

Thanks!

Sound like a great trip but 3 weeks is a bit much at present.

Have fun.
