Trying to book a place to stay & plan the day for the Friday & struggling with how the Rally actually works.

The rally village is my first & last place to go as from what I have read so far cars will be coming/going back to that place.

However I cannot really follow what the route of the race will be & which stages/car parks to go to?

Could anybody offer any assistance please?

Any particular reason why you want to start off at the service park in the morning? It'll be a hell of a trek down to Sweet Lamb from there. We're staying over in Aberystwyth on Thursday night, as it'll only be half an hour from the stage. The cars will start to run through just after 09:00, and the national competitors will follow before WRC comes back through again in the afternoon at 14:45.

If you want to move to another stage, Hafren is nearby and you should have time to get there after the national cars finish at Sweet Lamb. Stage times are all here if it helps: http://www.walesrallygb.com/documents/Wales_Rally_...

I was hoping to be able to see the cars & some of the prep before hand, but maybe just going afterwards instead?

So just to check that the route is done one way & then again in reverse back to the rally village? If that is the case I will probably go to the stage & then head back to the village after

I've never been in the morning, but I would have thought there would be a lot more to see in the afternoon/evening when the cars are being repaired/prepared for the next day. I doubt there would be much to see in the morning other than the drivers jumping in and driving off!

All of the stages run twice on Friday, so the drivers will just loop around and repeat what they've already run in the morning. So essentially, yes, I'd recommend you come to the stage first thing and then head up to the service park afterwards. See you there!

Ah that makes much more sense, cheers Ben.

Also just to check the cars will be doing the green stage on the image I posted above & after they will be going back to the rally village (purple marker in deeside?) So essentially can stay in Sweet Lamb till the cars come back through then head up home via deeside to see the cars or do they go elsewhere after the race?

No problem! Yes, the green markers are the stages that are running on Friday. My understanding is that all cars will then return to Deeside after they've completed SS8 at Dyfnant, so if you head to Deeside after Sweet Lamb has finished you'll be able to see them all coming back in at the end of the day.

Aye according to the plan you linked to they will be going Chester after Dyfnant & then onto the village in the evening.

Am I correct in assuming there will a good handful of cars going by at each stage with the national cars going first then the WRC after that?

The WRC normally runs through first and will take around an hour and a half depending on the amount of entrants. The National entrants will run through second (probably lasting about an hour) before WRC comes back through again. Generally the National cars only run once and won't come back through in the afternoon.

WRC cars will run through twice on all stages. Nationals only run once for the morning loops. If you want to get to Deeside for the evening service then that will start at 7.45pm and lasts for 45 minutes, service area closes to spectators at 10.30pm. there's limited parking at the service park, so a park and ride will be in effect when full, so consider this into plans. its approximately 2-2.5 hrs drive from sweetlamb to Deeside Service. so again another consideration especially as the car parks are single track forestry roads so getting in and out is diabolical if you chose to leave when everyone else does. what you'll find is a majority of cars will leave after seeing the top 10-20 cars and move either to another stage or up to service.

getting out of the car park and rally road traffic will be your biggest obstacle for getting to deeside in good time to be able to see service being carried out.
unless your there as the drivers are arriving actually getting to see them will be slim at best. they get out, get fed, do the interview then head to bed ready for their 5am start the next day.

Couple of quick questions, firstly I will be bringing my uncle with me and we were wondering if it would be possible to bring his nephew with us who is under 10 will I need an additional ticket? Secondly will there be a pistonhead parking area?

Children under 15 free.
The parking for the stages is normally on a forest track somewhere near the stage. Single file follow the convoy. Unlikely to be a pH parking area because of the lack of space or vast number of stages. Top tip. Get there fairly handy to save a big walk to the stage.

Yep, this! We don't have our own parking area as it was impossible to organise with the layout at the stage, so parking will be single file on the forest tracks, unless you're really early and make it to the car park at the top. We're aiming to be there from 6:30.

Doubt we'll make 6:30 (Hotel said they'll be flexible but I doubt a 6am breakfast)! Are we hoping to have a "gathering" under a PH banner or just do our own thing?

I'll send out an email to everyone early next week with full details, but we've got our own spot on the stage where we'll have our little PH pop-up marquee. So we can all congregate there and (hopefully not) shelter from the elements if needs be! We're going to be right in front of the catering vans there too, so here's to hoping they do a decent breakfast butty.

Personally I would not bother going to the service park - nightmare journey and I think they make you use the park and ride these days.
better off going to Newtown regroup at 12pm if you want to see the cars and drivers close up.

Yep I've got mine too!

Big thanks to Ben and the PH crew.

I can't see any barcode or anything else though, it looks just like a several, line email, is that all we need to show?

In my experience the guys on the gates can be funny about stuff that does not look genuine, even though it is!
