This was 105Db as it was a Sunday, they were pretty lenient though!
VERY lenient if that black Aston vantage was anything to by. That thing was LOUD.

The only reason I didn't bring the kit car was due to the noise it makes. After hearing the Aston, my car would have been fine!laugh

Some good news on the smokey Focus front; discovered today the timing pin black in the engine block had vibrated loose and gone for a wander, hence the rapid drizzling of Shell Helix served over the exhaust manifold. Cost to fix-hopefully around a tenner.

Result!
Mine was alright!tongue out If I had known you were broken, I would have nicked your front discs while you weren't looking!laugh
You really don't want those-not warped but they're bright blue now and the brakes distinctly lack bite. biggrin I was trying a bit of threshold braking that CAT Driver Training taught me-works very well with stuff with ABS.

Thanks for uploading. Looks great in 4k.

Your reaction to the flaming rx8 was the same as mine. "Yeah! Fire!" Haha

You clearly haven't been to many track days and that's fine, but equally it doesn't make you very qualified to comment on the standard of driving across track days in general. Yes silver turbo was in my group of friends there on Sunday. I didn't comment on his driving, nor any of the other half dozen cars moaned about on this thread, just made my own observations if you re-read my comments.

You just sound like your vexed at getting over taken so quickly, it happens, move on. Race control are very hot on dangerous driving at Silverstone and had anyone stepped out of line they would have seen it and taken action.
LOL - you must be following me on Facebook to know me so well ... so apparently I've not been to many track days ... ok, so let me just list them for you and the cars I've driven them in

Nurburgring - in a RS 4, R8, F-TYPE, Swift, Clio, Megane, M135i
Spa - in R8, RS 4, Clio, Megane
Rockingham - TT
Silverstone - F-TYPE, RS 6
Donning ton - R8
Brands - Ibiza Cupra, R8
Cadwell - RS 6, RS 3
Setts - R8, F-TYPE
Castle Combe - RS 6, R8
Bedford - R8, Ibiza Cupra
Oulton Park - Ibiza Cupra

LOL - as if I care about getting "undertaken" - its not a race ! which was my initial point

I was in the Black 1 series behind you from early on. I am in the process of uploading the video to youtube. Its in 4k so its a MASSIVE file and work's wifi isnt the fastest... Will have a link up soon.
Nice one thumbup

I was surprised by your 1 series - you can really pedal that thing along!
I know, it surprises me at times with what it can keep pace with. All down to the remap, i kept up with the 123d silver coupe which was nice. We both had plenty of judder and fade from the brakes which meant i couldnt push hard for long.

I also just re-watched the video - as the loudest thing in my car was my keys moving about, or me giggling at the fire from NJ72's RX8, you can really hear that engine of yours. I was gutted that i was on the same session as you, as i really wanted to hear you out on track, but was very happy to be behind you for a good stint about 9 mins into the session.

I had to stitch 3 videos into one, so about 12 mins in there is a bit of a jump, and the same again at about 23 mins.

vid is here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AFQboNmuiw

great vid, finally got to see what the car looks like out on track too lol passed you that a noticed skipping through the vid at 8.56 and 17.45 in the TT.

Well played sir!hehe Just out of interest, what disc/pad combo were you running?

I have mintex discs and pagid pads. Pads were 300 miles old, discs a couple of years old. The brakes were superb for the first 10 mins then just massive vibration, no fade at all. Let them cool for a couple of laps, then ok for half a lap then massive vibration again. We had to come in for fear of ruining someone else's day.

The boggo Motorcraft stuff-when I bought the car six months ago it had just received a new set. They didn't fade as such in losing brakes drastically, just went a bit mushy and lacked bite. To be honest it's my daily for when I need something practical/not the bike-although I love it and take care of it as best I can! Brought it along as I wasn't sure of the weather for the Elise and didn't want to commit to insuring the Lotus when it could have potentially rained. Happy to track £3k worth of Focus uninsured, not so happy to shoulder the risk of 40 grand's worth of Norfolk fibreglass and aluminium...

Saw your St170 in the car park-the colour I really wanted too (Print/Capri Blue?). Looked lovely and in good order too-a rare one nowadays as most are shagged. frown They're not quick even compared with contemporary rivals but handle sublimely-the balance, grip and feel amazes me every time I get in it.

Has your car got any engine/suspension mods?

All of my albums are now up on my flickr and facebook page. Quickest way to get a full res/unmarked copy is to PM my facebook page, but obviously you can PM me through PH too, as AndyVX did for my photo of his blue VX220, cheers Andy! smile

I apologise to anybody I didn't get photos of, I spent a lot of time admiring the machinery in the car park, so I was only able to catch a couple of track sessions. In hindsight, I wish I stayed for the late sessions. I'm also considering doing 'track only' next time, but I really do enjoy static photos too much.

Here's some samples from the track photos smile

Motorcraft are obviously better than £40 worth of mintex then!laugh

Using the focus sounds like a wise move. Would you have had any more fun in the lotus? Probably yes I suppose but the risk of binning a £40k car has to weigh on your mind.

Thankyou, it truly has been a great car to me. Yes, Capri blue with the comfort pack(xenons, climate control and heated screen) I waited for one to come up for sale in that colour/spec and pounced on it. I was told on Sunday there were only 500 made in that colour, no wonder I've never seen another one! I've done 40k miles in it now over 6 years and apart from some early teething troubles(imrc actuator and clutch and flywheel) it has never once missed a beat. Could really do with some paint but I don't want to get too precious with it.

That reminds me about the "speed spots" comment from somebody on Sunday. Thanks whoever you are, I am going to use that phrase a lot!hehe

No mods bar a K&N panel filter(just for being able to clean it rather than change it) and some magnecor ignition leads(again, lifetime warranty). All the suspension is original and 92k old. Like yourself, every time I drive it it impresses me. Sure it's not overly quick but the chassis is just fantastic. Even after Sunday it never used a drop of oil! Very unusual for a Ford.laugh I just don't know what I could replace it with for similar money.

BEHOLDETH, the only usable clips due to my poor GoPro mounting. I even nabbed one off the Dashcam! Mostly from the 11:55 I think, but the 'teg spin was the 10:45. Excuse my over reaction, but to find gravel at copse these days is top work, I salut you!
