just booked this one for husband in our Gallardo so you'll see him (PH - "never you mind") in the 11:55 session as well

Our first Sunday Service too...hopefully it won't be a problem that we have managed to book track time but low down on PH waiting list.
Gallardo in the novice section! Should we be scared? driving

Hi all, will any helmet do? I looked at the Silverstone website and they appear to need a certain approval rating. But not sure if that is for competition use as opposed to track day use?

Im not looking to cheap out, just need to know what certification i need for track days, if any :-)

Cheers

Hi everyone,

Just to let you know that we're also looking to offer heavily discounted track day insurance courtesy of Moris, just like we did last time around. More details on this will follow in due course, so keep your eyes peeled for an update.

What's the procedure for passengers going out on track? Do they need to pay a fee, sign up etc?

Last time passengers just had to sign on & get a wrist band, there was no charge.

Passengers have to attend the safety briefing, and the wristband is evidence of that. Obviously they need to wear a helmet. That's it.

Pretty sure they don't need to attend the briefing, just sign the disclaimer and collect a wrist band.

Officially they do specify a "helmet that complies with MSA/ACU regulations" however they've only ever asked "Do you have a helmet?" to me. To meet the MSA/ACU regs they have the have flame retardant liners. That seems excessive if you're wearing jeans and a Tshirt!

I suspect any ECE helmet would be acceptable for track days. I personally have a SNELL SA2010 helmet from Hedtec which is MSA approved and approx. £130 a good compromise. and the SA2010 is valid until 2023 as long as you do not need HANS and 6 years is plenty for a helmet I think "Snell SA2010, SAH2010, FIA 8858-2010 and SA2015 Not recognised for motorsport use after 31.12.2023."

I see no HEDTEC helmets cheaper than buying them direct from HEDTEC via their website or EBAY shop

I've never had my helmet checked on any trackday and I've done a few at Silverstone.
