No, a German car will actually work in Britain. Without going off topic too much, I just think they look exceptionally cheap - hence why I think people who drive them are knobs.

Ooh! Good one - worthy of a thread on it's own I think.

Big daft kiddie-fiddler MPVs - "daddy cool" my arse! - do always seem to be driven with "attitude" on the motorway, the blokes driving them seem to be full of pent-up fury, they must show everyone that the horrible van that their big fat heifer of a sprog-popping wife made them buy can hack it with the base Germans in the "fast lane". Ghastly vomit
my2.5 turbo s-max is probably quicker than most of the repmobiles and 3 series, who`s owners think they have got something special because it says bmw on the bonnet.
My Sharan VR6 can show a clean pair of heels to many supposed performance cars too. And no, I wasn't made to buy it by my wife, I actually bought it in the first place for her and then reclaimed it after I bought her a newer one as I actually rather like it. (For the record, it's not my only car though.)
Erm -- in a straight line maybe. However, it's probably got the handling of a van, and the drag coefficient of a truck.

I drive a VR5 VAG saloon, and I don't consider my car on the performance side - I do enjoy my car though, and do consider it quite sporty smile

I was being slightly tongue-in-cheek. But I was also referring to the 'Positive Essex' thread a little bit.
Fair comment actually.. i live in Essex and im not helping its cause by reinforcing the stereotype.

Its just these idiots are ruining everything that was once nice! - Loughton and the colour white! Ive previously owned 2 White 205 1.9GTi's and would love another, until i saw white 'devalue' thanks to spray tan tango ganster chick wannabes :-/

No, another sheep buying a eurobox and them hammering down the m1 at 90mph to prove that your balls still work, despite having 2x kids in the back and OH in the front

I don't have kids and am single.

Think about it logically, there is a reason why a lot more people buy European cars. They are better.

Having writted a dissertation on this at uni, and spent 9months researching it....... I found it was more due to people buying what the market fed them, that was locally avaliable, and conforming to stereotypes.

I.e. everyone nowadays wants a 200k house, and a pair of audi's on the drive.

OK, fair point. OK so it doesn't do corners particularly well, but it's exceptionally quick for what it is and I do need to remind myself quite regularly what I'm driving when approaching bends.

Not one single thing but ime:

- Sidelights and foglights illuminated (esp in town).
- Baby on board signs (not so much 'knob' but likely crap driver)
- Anything 'Barried'
- Personal plates with modified letters and screws in places to change the appearance

No it's because people are generally too lazy too venture outside their comfort zone and would rather go to their local dealer and buy a polo or such , I have owned Audi's & Mercs etc even an Aston that I sold to replace with a Bentley but none of them are as fun as a Yank Car

Well, there's boring American cars and bloody good American cars. Just like any other country.

I think an RS4 would be a lot more fun than a Saturn.
