One single thing that makes you think "knob"

The Toyota Pre-arse is about as green as a steam locomotive.
Off topic completely, but I seem to recall seeing a news story about steam being a potential power source again - apparently modern steam engines (gas powered, I suspect) can achieve some really high levels of efficiency. can't recall where I saw it, but the idea of a steam powered car appeals to me. Maybe because I would want to call it Ivor. Quick google suggests that there are more types of steam engine than I thought - Rankine Engine, Steam Turbines, Stirling Engines as well as chuff-chuff piston engines, so maybe there is some possibilities there.
Still wouldn't have a prius though, if battery power was a must I'd prefer one of the Honda offerings. The future must surely be in range-extender type engines, where the small engine powers a charger for the batteries, and battery power is used to move the vehicle. So the engine can be tuned to run at maximum efficiency all the time.

HGV drivers who block the outside/inside lane on road works. I can legally use that lane up to to cones, ESP when the HC tells me so. Knights of the road? Nits more like, and i believe that you can done for it

It's just smarter don't get annoyed if you didn't think to do it, and if you're really not going to let one car infront of you when you are in a long queue anyway then its not them being the knob really is it?

This is unreal! i see it all the time. They slipstream another lorry and pick up 1 or 2mph advantage. pull out into the other lane sometimes forcing cars out of the way because they don't want to lose their momentum so just start drifting and leave it up to you to get out of the way. Then the 2mpg advantage drops to basically nothing when they hit the full wind!
Why doesn't the other lorry driver being overtaken just back off a bit to make it quicker if it's going to happen???!!!! They can build up the speed again from the slipstream they will get off the lorry overtaking it when it pulls back in anyway!!! Not the brightest bunch.
I never know what to think when I read the sort of stuff. Why doesn't the other lorry driver being overtaken just back off a bit to make it quicker if it's going to happen???!!!! They can build up the speed again from the slipstream they will get off the lorry overtaking it when it pulls back in anyway!!! Not the brightest bunch.
It is a complete fairy story. It is total fiction.
It might even be some trolling and I've fallen for it, of course.

But when the lorry being overtaken doesn't back off the gas a bit to let the other through quicker and then make up the speed lost from the slipstream from the lorry as it pulls back in i don't uderstand.
This taking an age to overtake thing then forces the dawdlers on cruise control at 60 into the outside lane as they then crawl past the lorry.

No because you've not got the protection of a car around you.
If you were in the shop and went to the front and a dozen folks told you to get to the back of the que then i'm sure you'd just turn around and join the back of the que, probably with a red face.
I've no objection to anyone waiting until the end and joining the flow of traffic whilst the traffic is flowing freely but when the traffic is stood and there is a que it's normally because someone/several drivers have bullied their way to the front and caused the traffic to acctually stop, have you noticed once you get to the coned off part, you'll be flowing again?

It's just not the same though, it's not "pushing in", it's just using all the available space and importantly, not breaking any rules. In a busy shop where there are often large queues, there will be other ways to break the queue up, such as using barriers to create a larger path that alternates in direction. You still have to queue, but it takes less space than if you were to all stand in a straight line.No because you've not got the protection of a car around you.

That's not really possible on a motorway/DC/etc, so you use both lanes. Again, you still queue the same amount of time but the actual distance end to end is half (assuming two lanes). You would only end up queueing for longer if you merged earlier than needed and get passed by people doing it properly.
That said, I usually don't bother as the amount of hatred you can feel from other drivers just isn't worth the small amount of time it saves...
