I would have thought that 60-100 would have been a more useful stat for that, although as someone mentioned earlier it seems to be a Euro zone 130-190kph test.
No it is the figure for 80-120km/h, that is the test all German mags do 80-120mph in 6.2s would be ridiculously quick in 5th or any gear for something like this. An e92 M3 takes ~7s in 3rd-4th to do it.

Hmmmm...
Give me the mechanical bits that make this so good, in a standard looking one, and I'd be happy.
Don't like the twin exhausts, ugly wheels, ugly paint, ugly fog-lamps 'feeding' vents next to them
I'd rather 'tinker' with a normal model and make it what I want it to be for a load less money, than splash out for something uglified!

Okay am the first to admit I'm not a huge GM fan (ironic I know considering my daily is a Saab 9-3 and I also have access to a Cavalier and a Nova) but part of me (possibly the last vestages of youth) actually quite likes this. Quick somebody show me something boring and sensible immediatly.

Vauxhall appear to have made the mistake of allowing the bog standard 1.2 and 1.4s look very similar to the VXR direct from the dealership. There is a brand new 1.2 just down the road from me that from a distance looks like it should be putting out far more power.
I say mistake, but it's probably helping to shift loads of low spec models...even if that's at the expense of a bit of exclusivity for those spending out on a VXR.

I'm not sure I like the current generation of super-hot hatches - I know it should be celebrated that manufacturers are making ever faster, more focused versions of regular hatches and everyone loves a giant killer but I'm a bit bored of 200bhp+ hatches.
Shoot me down but IMHO in a way, due to there being quite a few offering such good performance and decent handling for a reasonable outlay, I don't see any of them as special in a way the Clio Williams, 1st gen Focus RS, Integrale etc were - the newbies pretty much offer better performance for the majority of people in most areas. Maybe I'm lamenting the regular car mag comparisons with heroes of the past, I'm not really sure, I'm struggling to justify what I think but none of these excite me - am I on my own?

Seems to me this is a fair attempt by Vauxhall at doing a "Clio Trophy" that can only be a good thing.
RRP with Vauxhall is usually not related to how much you can pick one up for (new Insignia VXR's for £24k rather than £30k RRP etc) so you'd hope this one would be sub £19k once the dealers start flogging them.
Look forward to seeing the full road UK road test by someone such as EVO Magazine who can look beyond the badge issue that some such as Clarkson fail
