To be fair though the 3000GTO is a pretty nice motor (to look at at least - i've never driven one tbh) and the majority of us have been there, that unenviable position whereby you feel you have spent too much to just quit and you get to that point where you feel there is nothing left to go wrong only for something you haven't even heard of to pack up...
It's always in smaller amounts ofc - he'd already paid a couple-of-hundred quid to 3 different people who'd not fully solved the problem and my mate added another couple of hundred to solve it (new distributor of all things - I didn't even know they HAD one of those!!) and another few hundred tidying-up the mess previous attempts to fix it had left. It then ended-up with another mate of mine who charged another few hundred to get it through it's MOT and so on.

There's a name for this isn't there? - the idea that having spent a bit you may as well spend more instead of writing-it-off??

Mind you - this is a car with a rear spoiler fitted in such a way that you CANNOT open the hatch (it's anchored on the rear wings and blocks the hatch from lifting fully) - people's priorities clearly differ wildly...

Well, I`m reasonably well qualified to comment here as I`ve got this exact car. I`ve had mine for over 2 years and 6000 miles during which its needed one AFM,a couple of oil changes and 2 wiper blades. Costs £200 on classic insurance, returns 27mpg on a run, seats 4, goes well enough and for its size is quite good on the twisties. Parts are easy, great club support.

Downside? image and market flooded with hideous modified blingers with more miles than the Space Shuttle, mainly driven by low rent turds with rearward facing hats.

Here`s my old bus:

Wouldn't mind seeing one of these as SOTW, if the airbag is an easy fix sounds like alot of fun

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/2759523.htm
You're kidding, right? That car will have been spanked within an inch of its life (if not closer), goodness only knows what else is wrong with it apart from the airbag; and it's French so bits are due to start falling off it anytime soon. Assuming they've not already fallen off.

Avoid.
Proven by the stupid and unnecessary exhaust tip and refering to his 'mum' in the advert, as much as i love the clios they do seem to be one of many ports of call for daft rich kids who drive them craply (booting up little straights or round junctions in town but going like old women round country lanes) and dont know how to change a tyre. Fortunatly most of the stupid rich kids go VAG as default so there are a few good uns out there that escaped sitting on a Barratts home driveway.

Back on topic however is it not true a certain Lamborghini shares the very same headlight units at a not inconsiderable cost of a bag of sand... so theres your 'investment' recouped straight away if she is a dog.

Hammer67 - loving that pic of your car. Pays to keep them standard, doesn't it. I bet in not too many years time these will seem very cool indeed....

I think they've always been cool - so long as people don't tart them up too much (the original wheels are a bit small and spoil the car a bit perhaps - otherwise LEAVE IT ALONE).

Thanks chaps, mine is standard apart from HIDs, only fitted as the headlamps as built are awful and a pair of stainless silencers.

'twas a turbo though. I think the 350Z would romp away from this.

One of the cars I've aspired to getting since I first saw one back in '91. Adore these things and would love to own one but of course ideally I'd like a TT SWB manual, which I'm sure is easy to find in great condition and not at all iffily modified in any way laugh

Seriously though, I'd take one of these over a Supra everyday of the week but given I've always hankered after one I am of course biased. They're in my price range to buy for my next car, but not sure if I could handle the running costs even of the NA version. I'm looking more into it's brother the s14a as a possible Nissan purchase.

Pondering though, even though the engine sounds and seemingly goes well (have watched this vid of a chap hooning around somewhere in the US a few times) ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4DQ-ijQcn0&fea... ...if the engine does go pop, why not just stick a 2JZ engine in there biggrin ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2COrsoGQGyA ...do wonder why it never came with an RB26 though - could've been an interesting combo.

Anyway, great shed and even though the seller can't produce the best ad in the world, I'm sure SOTW status will help it along smile

Not my cup of tea but good value.

I think a few PHers are being a bit quick to judge regarding the speeling. It's a sub £1K private ad. Has the thought struck people that English may not be the seller's first language?

Sorry, not my cup of tea. Plastic jap crap!
From someone who drives Solihull’s finest!
I've had more problems with LR than anything Jap.

Great advert, apart from the moth on the MOT.
I would be tempted, these are great fun. Parts a relatively cheap and obtainable.

Garlick - Please please buy this and raffle it off at the Sunday Service.. £5 a ticket!
Some may say, you have a point there Happy, but I have mainly driven Solihull's finest from day one! The only problems I have had in all those miles are a broken window clip on the double cab and a burst water pipe on my P38. I know some have had nightmares with all the Green and Gold badged offerings, but they will still get my money.

My old E30 ended in PRX, in fact it was H170, which is suitably japanese sounding enough to be perfect for this car!

PRX was an ideal plate for a BMW hehe

More than once.... but - with the exception of most hilarious scam e-mails - Johnny Forriner tends to take much more time when writing Engrish, and tries to minimise the mistakes.

Firstly I have NO idea why the cost of the car has any bearing on the issue at all - would a new Aston Martin have to be written in Shakespearian sonnet-form - a new Porsche as a Wagnerian Opera???? smile

Whilst my grasp of languages other than English is almost non-existant, I've noticed they mostly have systems of punctuation and often share our use of things like capital letters, spacing, paragraphs and a desire for overall legibility...

On a slight tangent - taking a bit of time to describe your car (computer, house, giraffe etc.) clearly and FULLY will ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS result in a nicer selling experience and a better price - it's absolutely guaranteed.

and you thought all that English language grammar and punctuation you suffered at school was a total waste of time eh? smile
