I actually saw two of these on separate occasions today and thought it unusual as I hadn't seen one for ages. I like them... certainly more so than a Supra or a 3000GT.

Well, I`m reasonably well qualified to comment here as I`ve got this exact car. I`ve had mine for over 2 years and 6000 miles during which its needed one AFM,a couple of oil changes and 2 wiper blades. Costs £200 on classic insurance, returns 27mpg on a run, seats 4, goes well enough and for its size is quite good on the twisties. Parts are easy, great club support.

Downside? image and market flooded with hideous modified blingers with more miles than the Space Shuttle, mainly driven by low rent turds with rearward facing hats.

Here`s my old bus:

That's what id heard about these cars and why I brought it to the attention of Riggers! Hell it beats a rover from the other week! :-)

Yes the ads wording is suspect, but he has made the effort to take good clear pictures and that counts for alot in my book. I think this car is a victim of the current fuel prices. Clearly someone with a family and not masses of spare cash to spend on fuel doing short local journeys!

Got offered a TT one of these as a PX for an Alfa Romeo GTV TS I was selling years back (having justed turned 25 and was able to get a 3.0 GTV insured). Shedding is all about the experience. Yes you can drive a low mileage rover but whats the point. Drive something fun, learn something about the car and whilst you hope for the best, the failures are all part of the experience (as are the heath robinson fixes that get you home and keep it on the road).

I seriously looked into this car and had I been offered the none turbo, t-top, manual, in black with a leather interior (the only thing this one misses but you could probably find in a scrap yard or on ebay) I'd have jumped on it! Any car you can jump in with out opening the door is cool! :-)

Has it is, Lazarus, my 1990 E30 BMW 325i, is yet again back from the dead after a low speed cambelt snap caused the sort of damage ive been able to fix with my hayes manual and £150 in parts. Lucky me :-)

On a slight tangent - taking a bit of time to describe your car (computer, house, giraffe etc.) clearly and FULLY will ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS result in a nicer selling experience and a better price - it's absolutely guaranteed.
I'm afraid that simply isn't true. If you fully and accurately describe your car, in good English with all the words spelt (spelled?) correctly.... you get taken apart for selling some kind of crock.

I love the Z32 300ZX TT.

I've had mine for 10 years! And its still a fantastic car.

Mine is a JDM (import) I couldn't find a good one in the UK, so I imported one and haven't regretted it for a minute.

Yes the electrics can be quirky, I remember chasing down blown capacitors in the fuel pump controller for months.

I'm not sure how many miles I've covered in mine, 30K+ including a European trip to Italy including some derestricted Autobahn sections.

It was an everyday car for a few years and it did everything in its stride, from Tesco trips to the in laws in Yorkshire and the odd track day.

I love it so much and as demonstrated by SOTW they are so cheap I just can't face giving it away.

Gets my vote. biggrin

Badly written adverts with or without images on a car parked beside a house in the dark are a pet hate of mine too.

I don't know why autotrader or ebay don't charge sellers more for adverts with cr*p photos. Do people really have such busy lives that they can't take a photo of the car they're trying to sell in the daylight? Climate change has relocated the UK to the Artic Circle?

Perhaps Pistonheads could have a weekly thread for worst advert of the week, with the worst winning a prize?

I'm sure there's a happy medium between adverts that show a limited grasp of English and those that go for essay padding approach that include at least one obviously wrong fact or falsehood:

'The best colour for these', 'sort after', 'I need a more economical car due my longer work commute. May swap for an Evo or Impreza'

Nice to see one of these on the Top Gear repeat on Dave yesterday even if it was racing Hammond on his monkey bike and the filming car.

I always liked the 300ZX. It was miles ahead of most when launched (most Ferrari's lacked power steering and ABS at the time, these had both along with 4 wheel steering and a cabin full of toys). I remember it being compared with the 944 and 968 Porsches and was generally favoured, especially in twin turbo guise. Or to put it another way, as a GT rather than out and out sports car you could choose this or something like an XJS at the time (I'd bet this will be more reliable!). Don't forget that the 3000GT and 90s Supra came along quite a few years after this.

To be honest, I wouldn't dip below a bag of sand for one of these though, a few extra notes might save you many in the long run and if your going to get one, surely the twin turbo is the only way to go? Good SOTW though!

I bought mine from the 1st owner in 1994 and still own it, now with 100K miles. Mine's a '91 twin turbo, US spec, and has had very few problems over the years. Warping brake rotors and clogged fuel injectors (from the ethanol they use here in the States) and have the major issues. No problems with the electrics but the clock which is dark for a few weeks after winter storage. Starting to get a little rot in one rocker panel due to winter driving when it was younger. I wouldn't hestitate to buy another one provided it's been looked after properly. Anything that old

My dad had a £400 twin turbo one of these a couple of years ago. It was an auto and it was still bloody quick, gave an unhealthy addiction for turbo boost, but had itself an unhealthy addiction to petrol! smile

That's tempting for a track car. Strip it, flog the fatty bits, make some pennies back, have a world of fun!

:Off Topic a tad:
Can't go wrong with Jap cars.
My 19yr old MR2 (sw20) track car just went through it's MOT with only £50 of work.
Was chuffed when I saw this fellow 19yr old doing what it was made to do.

Not my cup of tea and the advert does not inspire confidence.
