This is the one that has took my fancy
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2014...

Not sure if I am going to swap yet. The old ALPINA is getting on a bit but
it is part of the family now.

I think white is a foul colour, although not quite as bad as silver or grey. smile

Does it matter what anyone else thinks though? It's going to be your car.

The problem with white a5s (especially cabs) is that they are always driven by females with very empty heads that are a lovely shade of orange.

Black/grey/blue etc is a much better choice

White has grown on me, but it would never be my first choice.

However, white in a Cabriolet, to me at least, seems incredibly girly.

My Dad is thinking about a white A5 cabriolet. I'm thinking he should just sway towards a 3 series cab instead...and not in white. Whats your thoughts on the A5 quality and engine choice?
I think if your dad wants a white a5 cabriolet.... then he should buy a white a5 cabriolet.

Don't get a white one.
Don't.

It's this year's colour, fine, but in a few years' time it will look as dated as the 80s brown 911s.
+1

Recession White will look dated soon enough..
I didn't realise this was a three year old thread until I read the 'bump' later. Which puts the above comments into perspective - white remains a popular colour, just as it had been for years before 2011. I personally think it looks sh*t on almost every car ever made, but especially so on the A5 which to me seems a rather big blocky car with an aimlessly vague kind of styling to it. White to me just exaggerates the bulk and formlessness of it. But that's just my opinion.

Never normally like blue cars but the shade Audi use is very nice. Quite tempted by an S5 coupe coloured as such or possibly the red.

White though is nono

A5's look great, the shape is masculine and hasn't aged too much over the years. If your dad isn't too fussed about driving thrills and more towards comfort, reliability and build quality then hes on to a winner.

As for the colour, I think it makes it look cheap, I don't think white suits the A5. And as has already been said, it's outdated. White started out being fashionable around 2005, I remember it kicking off when I was working in the middle east and quickly spread across here. A nice metallic would be better.

I used to love Japanese cars in white (Japan's racing colour is white) and think it looks great on a variety of cars that aren't too common on our roads:

Mazda Mk1 MX-5
Honda Integra Type R DC2/5
Honda EK9 Type R
Honda S2000
Mitsubishi FTO
Mk1/2 MR2
Toyota Celica GT4
Toyota Supra Mk4
Nissan Skyline GTR32/33/34
Mitsubishi Evos
Subaru Imprezas

The list goes on - all sporty cars that all look great in white!

But now you see every single bland A>B commuter car in white, it makes me sad frown

I live in Blackburn and a work colleague hated the white A5 Convertible with red roof that her father used to have because it was apparently Burnley colours in her opinion. If you live in Burnley, don't go for white with a blue roof either.

What are people's views on red roofs? Spotted a (in my opinion) very nice one in rare pearl amethyst grey with a red roof on Autotrader but interested to hear people's thoughts. I can see how it may divide opinion.

If it makes aesthetic sense then it's a good thing - just like a red interior. Looks best with a darker body colour, in my opinion.

I think a red roof offers a nice contrast to the paint colour if you choose the right combination. I know of a guy in the USA who had a white A5 with a brown roof and brown leather like this.

When he put it up for sale cowboy types were falling over themselves to buy it.

My personal favourite Audi colour, without spending a fortune on Audi Exclusive colours, is Scuba Blue. It's at least not monochrome.
