most fun high performance real world car on the market for less than £60k in my view. Had a C63 for a month and fell in love with it. If I was buying new now although aged 40 this car is way too boy racer for me but think I'd still buy it! In gangsta white with black wheels pls and i dont normally even like white cars with gansta wheels! So much fun to drive with tail out at every corner!! You need to buy a petrol station though as jeez they like the good stuff.

I don't expect we will see a black version of this now the SLS is here which is a pity....the engine would have to swing it for me...the noise, the fact it is hardly breaking sweat producing 481bhp..masterpiece
there is already a c63 black series coupe and saloon being caught testing on the nurburgring just google it it should come up.

Missed that , Cheers.

I sell AMG, M cars, Porsches and anything that makes your 'Goolies' tingle when you drive fast, to earn my keep, and I have run various M3's of all ages and various AMG models of various ages.

The M3 is great for 'winging it' round racetracks, keeping a nice smooth line round the various bends with the revs right 'on song' but its boring to drive compared to the C63 487 and even sounds pants next to a 487.

9 times out of 10, we are never at a track.

9 times out of ten we just wanna drive round, have some fun and enjoy the car.

Who cares what is faster in milliseconds, who cares what has better velocity on semi race slicks with your sparco karting boots on, lets just all enjoy nice cars and stop bullstting about how fast a driver you are, and how your dads car is faster than my dads car, and the M3 is a drivers car and the C63 is a sloppy drivers car, how the C63 is faster 30-70, how the M3 is more balanced, hell there all nice!

I have driven the BMW M3 GTS, the C63 Coupe, the CLK Black, and all manners of special horseless carrages and they are all lovely beasts. Yum Yum. Now good day to you all, may the lord look after us and our precious metals as we drive on increasingly dangerous roads (with more potholes) than bin laden's daily commute!

Honda Accord coupe with tinsel bits on it.

Driven neither M3 nor C63 coupe / saloon. Sat in pre-facelift saloon and interior looks like a bag of sh*t. Current 3 series coupe interior not much better though.

E coupe prettier on outside, but interior looks crap - again. Saw one in a kinda smokey green the other day - great colour.

Come on Mercedes, style something that looks good on the outside with decent quality materials in the interior and a pleasing design. That also handles well - then you won't have to buy a flat cap, beaded seat covers and have cushions / quilted tissue box cover behind the rear seats - and tow a caravan.

The M3 is better in every single way; Engine,Brakes, chassis and fine details that this useless pig will never match.

Oh,and Iam sick of hearing the crappy farty exhaust note from these AMG 63's,let's have a treat and hear a proper race derived engine instead that doesn't need an artificially enhanced exhaust note.
Good, balanced comment! Are you really suggesting that a standard M car sounds any better? Really?

i personally prefer the C63 when both engines are below about 4k rpm, above that i prefer the M3's noise, such a screamer!! all down to personal preference though i guess. what is slightly irritating, is the noise from outisde the car (on the M3) is better than that on the inside. still, it's not bad!

I didn't mean the comment about the noise specifically, I meant the overall tone of the whole post.

I quite like the M3's engine too, I've always been a fan of low-torque, high-RPM engines. Although the M3 does sound rather... flat, even at high revs, at least compared to other similarly high revving V8s. Personally, I preferred the E46 M3's engine note.

I agree, the M3 is great and the C63 looks to be good too.

To dismiss one outright marks you out as a bit of a fanboy IMO. Surely you can appreciate the muscle of a 63 just as much as the purity and balance of an M car.

really? spent 1000's of miles in an E92 M3 and think the engine noise is absolutely fantastic. it's all personal opinion. i think when it comes to cars like these it's not "1 is better than the other" sort of thing, it's down to what you want from a car to be honest. still makes me laugh when people say that to move in an M3 you have to rev the st out of it, which is a load of tosh IMO. as said, i've spent a lot of time in an E92 and you'll still be quicker than most cars in the road without even taking it above 1/2 revs. even 5-6krpm is "high" work load rpm for most engines, but that V8 is not even doing 75% max rpm so, even though it's revving quite high, it's still not realy working very hard.

both are fantastic engines. if i wanted a lazy engine, i'd pick the C63. if i wanted a more spirited engine i'd choose the M3. but again, that's personal preferencce.

Interesting how little the RS5 has been mentioned.

Evo magazine seem quite dissatisfied with theirs.

Looks like the M3 is still the one to beat.

I like this car although I have to agree with a previous poster that the Mercedes line-up has become very prolific and confusing at the moment. I guess this need to build a car for every niche has been taken up by almost every manufacturer now so I can forgive them for it. It also sounds like Mercedes have finally put a decent gearbox in their more sporting cars. While I admit the Merc auto is fine for the majority of there luxo bargers, it has been very disappointing that they've used the same gearbox in all their AMG models too. It's the one thing that has always put me off owning an AMG. At last they seem to have rectified this.
