I'll keep this simple.

I would like an S2000 but don't think I would fit. Sat in a 335d convertible and my eye level was at the sunscreen visor level no matter how hard I tried.

So what convertibles do other tall drivers find and do they fit in OK?

All convertibles that I like are just too small. I look like noddy in em.

Answers on a post card please.

I fit in an MX5, but to see out the screen the sunvisors went in the bin. I'm 6'3 and my head touches the roof (just) when its up. I also nearly always drive without shoes on (in any car) which I think helps

I fitted in an MX5 happily.

God knows why you don't - I've never found it an issue being 6' 3"

ETA: I meant the OP, not the previous poster/

From your question, I take it that your height is mostly in your torso rather than your legs? I'm 6' and have four inches of headroom spare in an Elise, let alone a three series.

Your best bet might be to buy something you dont fit in, and change the seats for very low fixed buckets.

It really depends if you are long or short in the leg.
I'm 5ft 10 and I think a 6footer would fit in the Mk3 mx-5 reasonably.

Something bigger maybe? Clarkson never complained about his Merc SL.

Or something from the land of the fat? Stang or Camaro perhaps.

I'm six two (don't have a goatee), with a 36 inside leg and the Mk1 MX5/Eunos was fine for me. If also owned two MGB Roadsters and a 1971 Lotus Elan without any comfort issues.

I'm 6'2 ish and fit comfortably in a Mk1 Golf convertible. They are tiny, I reckon it will just be trial and error!

6,3 here and couldn't fit in a mk3 mx5 or S2K.

I have a Z4. Just about enough room with these top up. Fair bit of wind blast with it down though. I wear a cap, though I have been thinking about a spoiler on the sun visor.

6'7 here - tried an S2000, Boxster and Z4 with no luck. the later MX5s I could just fit, but was boxed in like a turtles todger. Also managed to get into a widebodied Westfield but again it was tight. Settled on the Chimaera which still has a bit of headroom with the pedals and seat at maximum extension.

I'm 6'4, had an elise and it was okay. Did feel uncomfortable at times that my head was close to the top windscreen frame. MX5 and Honda S2000 were too small.

I had a SL500 on the wish list for a while. Went off the idea after reading a few stories of leaky roofs and shagged boot electronics. If you have a garage and find a SL600 its worth a look.

6'5" and I look like Noddy in an MX-5! The newer model is better, but still not great.

It depends on the body shape and most comfortable driving position, so its entirely possible that someone who is shorter will have the same issues. Long body and a more upright driving position is sufficient to stuff most people!

To be honest, I have a problem in most cars these days - especially the folding hard-tops! They rake the screen back so steeply to reduce the length of the panels that in my more natural driving position (not the almost horizontal one prefered by many a company car driver) that I have the top of the screen IN my face! Pug's are like that

I'm 6'4" and can fit in the 320i convertible I've just bought quite happily.

Are you sure you lowered the seat down to the bottom?

I agree - A 6'6" mate had one for a while, and although it was cosy with both of us in it, and a comedy of contortion to get in and out, there was a surprising amount of room in one. Not quite as quick as a standard Elise with two big lads in it though!

(no goatees nor are we powerfully built men, just tall.)

Im 6 4 and fitted in an mx5 mk2 fine. The steering wheel was in the way a bit but I know a lot of people just fit a smaller wheel as the standard one is quite large anyway.

Would love to know if I would fit in an elise as I really want one biggrin
