Here she is. Not sure who would ever order a base spec Passat and then tick the DSG box option but who ever you are... thanks
My mother has a DSG Caddy and that was bought new by a friend who had an automatic licence. Something to do with his left leg being prosthetic.

Trouble is that i was'nt even looking for one, Just made the guy a cheeky offer and he accepted! My dilemma now is do i spend ££ on it to tidy it up? Also found out its got a stainless sports exhaust with rear silencer delete, I wondered why it sounded a bit fruity The rear 1/4's are pretty grotty under the rear lamps, The rear arches are bubbling and the ends of the rear panel where they join the 1/4's are frilly. Cheapest option is to cut bits off a breaker but they all rot here, Jag want £1350 a side for 1/4's and then i would only cut the lower sections off them! The O/S/R leg is easy enough to sort, Its just a bit thin in one place. Ive done an oil and filter on the engine as that was cheap enough, Its sweet, No chain rattle on cold start etc and i need to do an oil/Filter change on the box as its sealed for life and on 130K but thats another £100 in parts and oil, The £££ spent slowly creep up! Just playing with the idea of cutting the rot out, Plating and filling the 1/4's to shape and then plastidipping it in a Volvo polestar blue sort of colour with black wheels and smoking it about?

Complete rear light and entire electric mirror unit cost me £40 delivered, brake hose £13, x4 front shock bushes £18, caliper £39 and not that I 100% needed them, but I also got a new disc and pads for around £40.
In all honesty, had I realised that the caliper was the culprit at the start, I wouldn't have purchased the disc, pads & hose probably.
I could have also lived with the mirror and the slight clonk from the suspension if I am honest, but the mirror had tape holding on the cover and for £24 delivered in the same colour from a breaker it seemed the right thing to do! The bushes were an easy job whilst doing the caliper as they were needed on the same side.
It had decent tyres on it but the old wheels needed a bit of a refurb so I treated it to the sportier set which came with tyres for £195 delivered.
In terms of 'getting it in shape' the jobs which needed doing sooner rather than later were the caliper and the rear light, so I could suggest I sorted it all for around £54 I suppose.

Just ordered a new car but we won't get it for 8 weeks and the Volvo goes back tomorrow, will be updating this thread with my own stop gap spotter shortly
And talking of Volvo's...
I would have been posting up a 2.5t, manual v70 on here had I not had to go to a Birthday bash.
The old owner who had it from new was selling it with only 114k on the clock, full Volvo history and almost new tyres all round for £150 due to him giving up driving.
I said I would have it, had to wait a day due to the party and in that time, rather predictably, someone went and drove it away before me.
Sure, it had a few marks here and there but even so, the wheels and tyres alone would have been worth that.Ho hum.

Ha! You will now find yourself in a bit of a quandary in the sense that the better you make it look, the more you will want everything to be just right Jesus wept that's outrageous for £350! quote]

Mad money though. They must go for that with dead engines!
As per my Bargain Basement post:
My £75 snotter
passed its MOT needing just a clip on the cv boot.
Total spent £135 (including buying the car, the MOT cost and a set of carpet mats!)
Yes its a Rover, yes its a K-series but we have 2 in our compound to rob parts off and this one has FULL service history, head gasket, cambelts and new cylinder head only 15,000 miles ago and it was serviced only 1,000 miles ago too!
I'll drive it until it goes pop then scrap it! (or maybe stick a spare 160 vvc engine in there!?...)

Great thread!
Judging by these, most of my 22 cars have been snotters!
Best recent one being....
A 2001 Y Saxo 1.1 Desire 5dr....for....free!
From a mate....
Triuble is....said mate lives in Inverness...and im in Durham.
Still, one very cheap £38 train ticket up there...and a hair-raising drive back in a crazily bad storm...back home with said car for very little indeed!
Had the start of a wheel bearing going and the PAS was a bit hit and miss....but otherwise...good car! Went tremendously well for a 60bhp 1.1, really good fun!

I would like to add my 2007 Diesel Vectra C
150 CDTI
Bought for 700 notes
Fitted DMF, clutch and release bearing,
Parts and labour
1200
How many miles has it done?150 CDTI
Bought for 700 notes
Fitted DMF, clutch and release bearing,
Parts and labour
1200
As per the BB thread - sounds like a bargain
Serviced regularly up to 151
So 700 to buy
Total outlay, car and parts for DMF
1200
But the best part is, 780 miles to a tank, which is slightly better than 63 mpg
