picked car up at 5.30 test drove it checked over etc it was sound no problem with it at all. drove it back about 172 miles was brill. omar had been reading all these posts he said a coustomer had rang and canciled a job and told him the link to this thread. no discount as he said he had spent to much to get it right. sorry this post is so late i havent long got back got stuck in traffic. i told him i will not be removing anything that i have said but i will add to it that when i got the car back it was all in order and running as it should. he has done a good job but the time he has spent chasing parts etc etc etc etc has been a ball ache. he also admitted he had lied to me regarding delivering the car last weeking after seeing all this but end of the day 7 weeks was too long.

Glad to hear you're back and all is as it should be - very much belatedly. Fingers crossed for trouble-free motoring..

Did you check the engine numbers?

You will have to get the V5 updated with the new engine number by law anyway, just cross out the old engine number, write the new one on, sign it saying the details are to be updated and send it off.

Glad you got the car back and it's all working in the end.

Glad to hear the car is back in one piece John. No discount is a bit of a ballache, especially as he lied to you (great customer service Ohmar) and took 7 weeks to change an engine.

At least you got the car back John, I hope the engine lasts for a good few years.

As said above, it's probably worth checking the engine number.

Omar - you're a dhead!!!

Yes eventually you've done the job but why not just be straight with the OP from the start??
All the lies you've told will obviously lead to certain conclusions being made and you've only got your self to blame.
The internet's a powerful tool these days and, as already mentioned, you might suffer consequences sooner rather than later.

Hopefully sooner. Not that I would want to tarnish someones business, but if I worked with the same mentality as this bone head, then I wouldn't get very far.

Omar souns like a crook. Here in the states, you could take him to small claims and win damages. He knows what he did was wrong, no BS excuses.

I would recommend reviewing this guy on every British website which allows it and telling everyone you know to avoid this guy.

You could do that here to some extent.
You'd spend money getting it to court, they'd find in your favour and award you damages which Omar would then have to pay at a rate of £20 a month. He'd pay the first few installments then just give up knowing there's no real legal force that's going to follow up on him and ask him to please carry on with the payments.

Basically it's all stacked up on the defendants side and it's probably not worth the time, effort and expense to carry it through - so it's better just better to cut your loses and be thankful you've actually got the car back.

Sometimes I think the reason that The Law is on the side of the criminal is that it's drafted by criminals. I think the MP Expenses scandal shows how many petty crooks were involved...

I am always confused by shoddy workmen like the guy who took 7 weeks to do the engine, and that was only with a kick up the arse from PH - would it have been 12 and not working properly if not?? If they'd just done a decent job in the first place they'd increase their cash-flow AND profit, and be the wealth owner of a respected garage - only a cretin does what they do - Ok they inconvenience the customer but all the long term harm is done to themselves. Idiots.

Not sticking up for Omar in any way, he's a total douche for lying and keeping you waiting, but I've suffered from this dirty interior thing after my car has been serviced often. I only send my car to well known and respected Alfa specialists, and I'm confident they know what they're doing but I often get the car back with hand prints all over the leather. frown

Glad you got the car back..

As for the issues now arisen, personally I'd be getting a local garage to do a check, make sure all is OK and no hidden issues.

Then swallow my pride, book it into a local valetters and get it back mint.

Clean away any memories of it's recent 7week sabatical. Your bleeding wallet and stinging arse nay take longer
