Total = 23 minutes. Even if you divide that in half because you think I'm exaggerating it is still 11 or 12 minutes.
In a previous job, I sold and fitted wheel and tyre packages. If I'd taken 23 minutes to fit one wheel, I'd have been sacked!

By 23 minutes, I should have been on the final wheel - if not pulling the car back off the ramps. And that's aftermarket ones with fiddly spigot rings and weights measured in the tonnes range.

If I was a garage owner and it takes my mechanic 5+ minutes to find the right socket (being that most are 17, 19 or 21mm) then I'd seriously have to consider if they were right for the job!
OT from the original subject, but I've just had 4 tyres removed from 4 loose wheels, and 4 new tyres fitted and balanced - no valves - steel valves retained. When I arrived, the manager said 45 minutes. I actually took 40 minutes. This is my local Blackcicles fitting outfit as well.

^^^ +1

Had a couple of my cars done after periods of WRN (work related neglect). Always makes them feel like a new car.

When spare cash is abound, the SAAB will be getting detailled by someone decent.

(previous owner for 4year from new never washed it, or polished it - woman, career girl)

I'm afraid overfilling the brake/clutch fluid resevoir won't affect your ability to select gears. Well, not like underfilling will. I doubt years of trouble free motoring - sorry.

I do feel extremely sorry for you. It's just a shame you bought a Renault in the first place - they're so tempting to buy second hand. They look good, have good spec and are cheap. Well, you now know why they're so cheap. I just hope other people read this and don't fall for the 'too good to be true' pricetag.

Melissa, how did you get on in the end?

Unfortunately they have my van right now and I'm starting to get very suspicious...

Bloody lucky that I saw this thread, as I was about to hand my car over to them on Friday to rebuild the engine.

Also read through a few of the 27 pages on the RAC forum.

Still got a BMW with a buggered engine, but at least I still have the car and some money. Sounds like I'm one up on a lot of unsuspecting people. I can't believe Roy Dart is still allowed to act as a director of a company. Welcome once again to Broken Britain.

motor fix uk ltd is now Called AUTO ENGINES UK LTD.

Same address, same people.

OSGAR OZI still answers the phone.

They are still on ebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-GALAXY-1-8-TDCI-QYW...

Avoid at all cost.

If you have a car with them, get it recovered immediately as they are now striping the car and selling the parts before they claim they never had the car in the first place.
