Hmm, you may be right there, this was quite a while ago, a quick Google has revealed nothing.
Somewhere in one of many boxes of old car mags/brochures i have got the issue of Cars and Car Conversions that featured that Escort although i do remember it being a mid metallic blue....... but the mention of a second one that was red rings a bell....My dad bought one of these back in about 1990 i think it was?? 2.9i Ghia X hatchback in black E444PMS, 2nd owner, he bought it from Westcars Saab in Perth for about £10k i think!! Anyway it was his 1st auto, so on the day we picked it up he drove out the dealership and got up to the 1st roundabout and put his foot on the brake and rammed the gearbox into park!! forgetting he was in an auto!! Never heard a car make that noise before as we were moving at about 20mph at the time!! Once we'd peeled ourselves off the windsceen and restarted the car all was well thankfully... but it was a gingerly drive home to ensure all was still well with the car.
He ran it for many year later with no issues apart from routine servicing, he eventually bought an Omega 2.5CDX auto, but he still preferred the Granada to the Omega, my mum ran the Granada for a bit before trading it for a new Suzuki Alto 1.0GL auto under the £1k guaranteed trade in price Suzuki were doing at the time.
They wont be 14" alloys on that ebay one though as they were all 15"s 195/65/15 tyre size apart from the 24v Cosworth ones which had 16" alloys on them.
not many of these left now though, the 24v one still appeals though i have to say.

My dad chopped bought my mum hi previous company car (1989 Audi 100 2.0e 5 cylinder - lovely car; kept for a coupl of years and sold at a profit..) for a 2.0 Granada Ghia X.
I had one of that generation Audi 100, a very nice car as you say, galvanised so no rot to speak of, quicker than the 2.0 in a big body would make you expect (I removed the cat for a nice Quattro rumble). I think the Granada wasnt that far off really, wasnt as quick as a 2.0, was heavier but I think the handling was a bit better, ok a bit roly poly but seemed better than the Audi. Loved the big swoopy dash on that Audi, new ones dont look that different and way ahead of the pre facelift version that had a big ice cream tub for a dash.I rememeber following one down the M74 at an indicated 125 mph for about 80 miles.
(you could do that in those days)
What shocked me was that it was August 1st and it had the new reg for that day/year
I was on a Laverda Jota so had to stop for fuel - I guess he just carried on regardless

Reminds me of the one I had, a 1985 2.8 Scorpio (which was the top of the range "new shape" Granada when it was first launched).
To say it was fully loaded would be an understatement:- electric windows & sunroof, aircon, trip computer, heated & electrically adjustable front seats with pump-up lumbar support, electrically reclining rear seats, rear entertainment console (& headphones in their little bags in the front seatback pockets), self-levelling suspension with onboard compressor, heated windscreen and more interior lights than a 747. In fact, the only thing missing was leather.
The favourite party trick was to stick the auto-box in first at the lights, put your foot to the floor as soon as the lights change, and then (without lifting off the gas) knock the lever into 2nd, 3rd, etc, just as it was nudging the redline. Highly amusing until one day it went from 1st to nothing (blown gearbox).
Very smooth, comfortable car, and not surprising that they sold so well at the time. Funny how dated it looks now though. Still, I expect we'll be saying that about all the Bangle BMW's in a few years.

Love it my Dad had 12 of these back when I was small.
Between us now we own 3, a Mk2 2.3 v6, a Mk3 Cosworth, a Mk3 2.0Ghia.
Believe it or not but to buy those alloys new from Ford today costs €850 with the caps, locks etc....
They are 14'', I have a brand new set in the office if anyone wants proof there 14s that I picked up for a €100
I don't care what anyone says but I'd take one of these over a classic Ferrari.
I love them

^^^^ if they're 14" alloys what the hell is the tyre profile size?? an 80 or something like that? As with the 195/65/15's fitted to the Granada range as standard with the exception of the lowly 1.8 and 2.0GL's as they had 14"s, they were hardly what you'd call low profile!!!!
