Perfection. Keep your 458s and MP4-12Cs, this is a real driver's car, and probably the last.
Is this the last true analogue car in an increasingly digital age? I think so...
Couldn't have put it any better! First ever 10/10 on PH for me Is this the last true analogue car in an increasingly digital age? I think so...
Crikey, didn't realise my post would get so many peoples knickers in a twist!
Look folks, it's just my opinion, I'm not saying it's how you feel.
And as for Caterham, yes they are true analogue cars, but I'm sorry, they're not supercars. My point was that there will probably never be another mainstream supercar with the same level of involvement as this 4.0.
And no, I don't count the Noble M600 as mainstream.
Yes, I mourn the passing of the manual gearbox. It's a wonderfully tactile mechanical device which links you directly to the machine, you have 100% control over how the car goes down the road. For me, a dual clutch box will never have the same level of interaction, and that is why I will miss them.

Digital v analogue... what a joke of a discussion.
Its called progress. Do you people also mourn the loss of the 1bhp horse-drawn carriage? Now THAT was analogue...
Actually I wonder how many people on the forum have tried a 1hp horse as an alternative to a car or bike. That is a truly analogue experience. I know show jumping's image sucks - probably through association with toffs or seen as girls' sport (although that Ghengis Khan was hardly a girl's blouse and he seemed to like his horses). From personal experience I can say that approaching a big fence on a (stupid), very large animal with (half) a mind of it's own is just as buttock-puckering as getting air on a motocross bike or braking late on a track day. Even more so! Horses are as mad as lorries. kiteless said:
In these days of Citroen Picassos sporting paddle shifts, it's such a refreshing change to have a rear-driven, rear-engined, 500bhp car with a manual 'box.
Oh no! Not Citroëns?!Oh dear oh dear, what is left to the supercars...
Let's hope there'll never be a Picasso Porsche or Ferrari!

Always found 911 drivers more than decent on the road and always very enthusiastic about cars.
Do you find people driving other marques just as rude?
Over here, in Belgium, the Porsche owners are nasty.Do you find people driving other marques just as rude?
And as I said, even the Porsche dealers.
BUT, perhaps I could say the same thing about... Belgian drivers on the whole!
I must tell you this story:
When I was about 20, around 1966, the miniskirt, etc.,
there was once a BRITISH WEEK in the Belgian capital Brussels.
With friends, we went about interviewing people just for fun, with a small tape-recorder.
Then we suddenly "fell" on an English policeman.
We asked him "What do you think of Belgian drivers?"
Well, instead of answering straightaway, he put his hand on the microphone and
asked for who we were doing these interviews.
We said "oh, for ourselves, just for fun...".
He then answered clearly:
"I think Belgian drivers are mad".
Well then I'm not king "accusing" Porsche drivers; especially that I do suppose that English Porsche owners are well-behaved persons.
Anyway that how I remember the England of my childhood!

With the change in crank, other engine items and displacement how does the exhaust note sound compared to the regular .2 RS? Just curious. All RSR sounding?
Were the GT2 RS models also only sold to Porsche's "best customers"? That version seemed terribly over priced and I see a few of them for sale on ebay - in the states. Somehow this 4.0 seems more special.

rant rant rant... Jeez. Whats to say? Its a good car, one of the finest, regardless of if you do or dont like the functional aero mods, lack of comfort, noisy exhaust... Whatever, its not for you. I guess some, or alot of people get it. And apreciate it. And someone was on about current 3.8owners sh..ing themselves over this, and feeling out-done. So what. They arent alowed to develop a new model thats better, for the fear that current owners ( let alone others ) wont apreciate the fact that they are flying the flag and doing a nice job of it. Would be sdad if people thought like that and really got that insecure about their purchses. Totally insignificant rubbish.
