Sweet Jesus. Bet he'll be praising the lord for his supper that night! He virtually turns the wheel through 360' to get the thring straight again. I'm surprised his gonads don't get in the way of the pedals. I agree the passenger is some kind of remote control manakin.

It's so much harder to sort that kind of thing out on tarmac rather than gravel.

Yep, just the minor fact that it is easier said than done ... wink

Jesus christ thats impressive!

Incredible speed on his steering input & how much 'dab of oppo' to give it.

Agree with the dodgem comment hehe

That's a well-known bottoming-out point there on Bray Hill, surprised he didn't notice it on his warmup lap. Maybe not going quite as fast.

Surprising that the IoM Govt sanctions these lap record attempts. I mean, good on them and everything, but if they're going to let the TT circuit morph into some kind of mad version of the Nurburgring it can only end badly.

Passenger must have thought this was a simulator or Gran Turismo. Bizarre. Or maybe Americans really don't get motorsport !

The police officer who deposited the Evo in someone's garden could take a few tips from that video!

Looking at the "side on view" video it looks like he dips the clutch to remove the drive from the wheels and thus avoiding engine and transmission braking effects and this allows you to steer the car out of the skid. If he'd used left foot braking this would have caused weight transfer while the car was unstable and would have exacerbated the situation. This is a great example of "instinctive" car control with his years of rallying experience to call on. Lesser mortals would have panicked, hit the brakes and ended up as a garden ornament.

First time I watched it on the BB thread I didn't spot the passengers face, I was too busy being mesmerised by the car control. Now it's been pointed out he seems to be thinking only about whether he should have the steak slice or the cornish pasty at the top of the mountain and whether he packed both cups.

It's a shame my wife and mother couldn't have been in the back seats.

I'd imagine the passenger had put his faith in the expert and just froze and clammed up when it all started going a bit pete wong (think I might have braced with a few expletives biggrin). Even the driver was a little quiet directly after the 'save' probably thanking his lucky stars!

Great skill thumbup

Mark mestions a bump, it looked like the car bottomed out, or more accurately ran out of suspension travel. Well done saving it, probably being a former front wheel drive expert, he kept his foot down, which pulled the car straight.

Thats amazing car control. I've been a passanger in a similar sitauation. Except we were in a Saxo Vtr, doing a third of the speed... and the driver didn't recover control rolleyes

Not bad

This video of Higgins on the Manx Rally years ago is always worth a repost, it's stunning. I love the car control at 0:34+
