I doubt it very much. Ginetta are down-to-earth, and he is pie-in-the-sky.
Er it actually is

It's the 'same' car.

Farboud, turned into Farbio (?!), then Ginetta bought that and developed it into the F400.

I wonder what they have changed though, since Evo magazine had a Farbio in a line up against the Evora and some other stuff (Cayman?) in a group test a while ago...

And me!

I really want the G40 to succeed but its in a very difficult place in the market.

Someone's got to buy them and its a fairly brave guy who ignores a new 370Z/Cayman et al to go and spend his own hard-earned cash on a G40 to use as an only car.
I was very interested last year at Goodwood when I saw the G40 and had a discussion about it with the chaps at Ginetta, however back then they were talking £26k not £35k. Will the car drive that much differently to a stripped and caged mx5 at the end of the day to justify that price tag?

No doubt a great machine. I wouldn't want one as an every day car - but that's not what they are about.

Would the performance bits fit in my MX5 3.5?

That would be something.

I can't quite see the central console but I don't spot a sterio or heater controls. I see the race cars have no heater and just a heated windscreen. I think with our weather you would need a heater if you intended to use it all year round.

Love the G40R in white.
There appears to be blower things on the end of the dash board so perhaps there is a heater.

Fair enough. "I stand corrected" said the man with the orthopedic shoe.

Quite a surprise to be honest!

Personally I think its just great to see an independent British manufacturer making cars. Good luck to them and I hope they sell like hot cakes around the world and encourage more international investment in the UK automotive industry. rotate

Saw both on trip back from LeMans yesterday. Neither really excited any of our party, the F400 being a bit of an ugly child.

Wish them best but I can't see the F400 having many takers at just shy of 100k...

Especially when it was available a few years back for £60,000

its more of a racecar than a sportscar. felt more spartan than an elise when i sat in it. miles away from the relative comfort of chapman era lotuses.

£35 is pretty strong money compared to the competition but i hope they make a success of it.

It depends what you are calling the competition. If you are judging it against other track focused coupes, it compares well with the 40K Exige.

Just had word from Ginetta - they have gently slapped me on the wrist and pointed out that I'd got over-excited about the price of the G40 R.

It's actually cgoing to be sub-£30k (just)...

(article now edited to reflect that)

The G40R will be available sub £30k OTR which makes this amazing little car a very competitive machine. (I was the lucky passenger form Leeds to Le Mans and back again so can personally vouch for its fun factor, it's addictive!)

What do you think of our little car park...? smile

It is a long story, but I gather that Arash farboud departed the scene years ago. He commissioned the initial design of the car and for a few to be made, but ultimately sold up, walking away and leaving Chris Marsh as the owner of the business. Chris is the son of Jem Marsh, which is the MAR in Marcos.. Chris cut his teeth in the Marcos business back in the day.

Chris, in turn, has now got together with Ginetta who are now taking over development of the car. At least, thats what I think happened...

In any event, the car has a lot of promise. Under Chris Marsh, the car was attracting good reviews. It goes, stops and steers very nicely indeed apparently. If Ginetta can fettle the car and make it into the finished article, they could have something very interesting IMO. : )
