Good evening all, the names Mike.
I have a 1993 4.2 Audi V8, and I certainly wouldn't sell mine for under a grand, more like £2k.
I have had it several years and bought it off my then, boss who had had it from 1 year old, so I know the car very well.
It's a great car to drive and still turns heads, especially with the stainless steel sports exhaust I put on it when I bought it.
Being Aluminium bodied there isn't any rust on mine, I have had a few small problems, mainly a steering pump leak which was sent off for re-sealing, other odds and sods as you would expect, I was lucky I found a dealer in Surrey who had some old stock of brake discs and managed to get them for a reasonable amount.
Insurance for me is only £230 ( I am 60 and live in a nice area ).
MPG is the worst problem if you drive it with gusto. 10 to 12 around town and 25ish on a run.
I also have a Land rover 300 TDi, a Vauxhall Astra and a Suzuki TL100R.
I'm putting in a few details as this is my first post, I came upon this article after checking how many cars were left in the UK and Googling came up with the shed of the month and I thought I had to respond.

I am thinking of selling the V8 as it dosen't get used too much any more, it will be a shame to sell it as it's been the best car I have ever owned, but needs must.
I don't have any decent photo's at the moment so must take a couple.

Love to see the pics! By the way, it's galvanised steel rather than aluminium.

I have just checked and I have owned the car since December 2004, it had 113000 when I bought it and it currently has 123000.
As you can see it's always been a low usage second car.
I'll try and get some pictures later today providing the weather holds up.

Hi bigmick11 (or Mike). Firstly welcome to PH. Good to see that shed of the week (not month, but I'll let you off wink ) is bringing new people into the forum.

One thing to mention, though, is that we don't allow our forum threads to be used for the purposes of advertising, so may I politely point you in the direction of our classifieds section if you wish to sell your car smile.

Having said that, there's nothing wrong with posting up a few pics of it on this thread...

Think he was pointing out it is worth more to him to keep than to sell it for a grand, i.e. he is slightly put out that his Pride and Joy may be worth less than a grand, dont blame him really but its so rare I reckon a nice one might make two grand off an enthusiast as they dont come up very often.

Dont like the sound of teens mpg though !

Fair point. Nothing like being over-keen though, eh? biggrin (and plugging the PH classifieds in the process...)

Think you're right - if it's a properly tidy car I don't see why the right buyer wouldn't pay £2k - I suppose it would just be a question of finding said buyer...

Don't worry chaps, when and if it goes up for sale it will be put in the right location.
At the moment it's parked in the front garden with a cover on, as the next door neighbour is laying paving slabs and the dust cloud is covering everything.
I appreciate the car is worth what the market will stand. For a rare car with bags of performance it takes some beating.
For anyone who hasn't driven the quattro they will be surprised at the grip levels, when you pull away, even in the wet its just instant grip and go, a great traffic light car.
