I think many modern cars could benefit with some black rear window slats.

I am 6' 2" and I can drive mine OK strangely there does seem more room in an Elise but getting in and out of those is hell, something which probably harmed sales more than any other factor.

Everyone seems to think that these cars were poor relations to the 308 Ferrari but when the car was launched in 1981 the Essex Esprit Turbo cost £20,950 at the same time a Ferrari 308gtb cost £21,800 so they were direct rivals. I think at the time a new basic 911 would have been just below £20,000.
And I was following a 16,000 mile example (!) at the weekend in my Elise and the Esprit was properly quick, plenty of grunt on overtakes and sweet handling in the corners.

My dad had a naturally aspirated Esprit S3 in white in the early 80's. Loved that car - brings back happy memories

Great Video Clip from Mafioso, I love seeing these cars in the full on Essex Oil livery with the roof mounted stereo. Always makes me laugh the guys from Lotus look like accountants in their shirt and ties but they get the last laugh as they can drive that test track like Mansell or Senna.
