WAY too heavy & WAY too expensive IMO

Standard M3 coupe with remap, titanium exhaust/spot cats & pair of Recaro Pole Positions instead of the standard chairs would have to be VERY close to the same thing in terms of weight/pace...

I pity the fools who have more money than sense and who will buy one of these.

If I had the disposable I'd get a lot more enjoyment from buying a base spec M3, pulling it to bits, lightening it by a huge amount and upgrading the engine significantly, and then *driving* the thing.

1,630kgs down to 1,580kgs... 50kgs?
If you chopped Lisa Reiley's left arm off at the elbow, she'd still be a big old piece. I purposely have not read the specs, but please correct me if BMW have managed to retain air-con, a decent stereo, spare wheel and sat nav while making that 50kgs weight saving, all the bits which are easy to delete but actually make the driving experience better.

They don't need your pity. They have lots of money.

I'd rather own one of those than the GTS. A sensible number of seats and doors for a start.

As for the price - the GTSs were just all sold quickly enough weren't they? Mercifully few to the speculators it would seem. I expect the same will happen again with this - quite probably bought to sit alongside the GTS, and one of each CSL too in a few cases...

BMWs in general and M Cars specifically haven't had spare wheels for quite some time now, just one factor in their low emissions official ratings. It's also why some manufacturers don;t fit even a space-saver as standard, but it's usually a NCO. Although that's falling by the wayside now as a result of the rubber supply/cost issue currently affecting vehicle/tyre manufacturers.

In many ways, i love this car. But, like others have said, many of us would enjoy spending the extra cash in an attempt to imrove on the car ourselves. On the other hand, one will no doubt become a collectors item, the otner will depreciate like hell.

no hope to see it as "Reasonably-Priced car" at top Gear.

It´s rather "faked" than "intelligent" leightweight design.

Buying a vanilla M3 and putting the family on a low carb diet wovuld be a lot cheaper, lol.

About the only argument I can see for the GTS and CRT is that these may well be the last of the great N/A M cars. It's turbos from hereon in.

In a few years the GTS esp. may get the kind of cachet the E46 CSL does now - although many will always regard the latter car as the best M since the e30.

But I'd rather take a standard M3 and put the gubbins on myself.

If people spend £115,000 on this for some pretty CF and 50kg, then they deserve to have BMW take their money from them and laugh them out the showroom. Mongs.
I'm totally with you on this one but you have to bear in mind there are an awful lot of mongs around who will buy this car, drive it slowly round Knightsbridge for a year then after having soaked up a massive hit of the depreciation will sell it on, most likely for a price far closer to 'standard' M3 level. There are a lot of rich playboy millionaire types for whom owning the most expensive BMW is more important than owning the best performing one.

However all this means is that for small fry like me who buy our BMWs a decade old and six owners worn, but still love them to bits, is that one day we will probably get our hands on something this awesome for the 2021 equivalent of five grand. Assuming there's still petrol to run it on, otherwise it'll probably be fifty quid!
