Nope - you got me there. Just been through the Mazda range, and can't see what you're getting at.

I recommend this too
IN the flesh you would never mistake an XF for a Mazda 6

Does anyone else think that the "leaping cat" on the bootlid is leaping the wrong way? I think it should be going to the right on rhd cars...
Yes! We read from left to right, so it should be leaping from left to right.

Judging by the replies, I think it's you that's needing the new glasses.

I like the front a lot, but the rear looks ponderous.

I used to confuse the XF with a Mondeo because of its proportions and stance more than actual similarity. However, there was no mistaking the constantly surprised XF front end. I think this one actually nails it and the front focus is now on the grille not the headlights so it looks more instantly "Jag" (though a version with vertical slats still wouldn't go aniss...) and the raer lights never looked "finished" and I think these new lights now allow you look at the Jag emblem and not get distracted by the lights.

Essentially the brain will determine what cues to pull from a car and will "auto-complete" a first impression so it is no wonder some people see disparate cars when looking at new ones. In this case, i think the cues the brain will now pull from it are more positively "Jaguar".

Although changes to the front (in particular the lights) are not significant it has made the XF/XFR so much better looking - to me at least.
I agree! The headlights are now much closer to the design of the orginal prototype which was, unfortunately, badly diluted for the original production model.

A big improvement. yes

I think this facelifted XFR is a mighty handsome beast and it does look much better than before. Very nice.

Although it looks just like a [insert make of random 4-door saloon car with a random pic of one in red from google] rolleyes

Looks smart and removes the largest issue people had previously with the design of the XF, the bug eyed headlights. Jaguar just need to bring in an estate model to really open up the market and bring in much deserved additional revenue.

So you've the Portimao circuit and an XFR and the article reads like an advertorial highlighting all the visual changes. You've given us pictures, the changes are for all to see. What was the driving experience like?
Exactly like the old one I imagine - there are no changes apart from styling.

I watched the Autocar road test on Youtube and, although it's out of my price range (at the moment, roll on 2012) I'm convinced. I'd take that over a BMW any day.

I love the XFR. Anyone even contemplating the incredibly ugly new M5 0r 6 is probably partially-sighted anyway.
