Lead singer no less, I remember seeing them at Finsbury Park some 15 years ago.

just looked at the website and it must be the same as the intro music is very much like the album chrome in particular Fripp.

really nice cars they make...

in this German 2011 article they take about the price too, their 425hp version cost about 164.403,-euro (235,216.75 USD), pdf file>> http://www.singervehicledesign.com/content/Autobil...

but in this article they take about from 190.000 $ to more then 300.000 $...

There are some superb detail touches on the Singer car like the seats, rear shelf, door mirrors, steering wheel, the Heur clock etc., http://www.singervehicledesign.com/

But I do wonder if in reality it would be a better end product than the Harris/Tuthill greenmeenie that was featured on Driver's Republic a year or so ago. ISTR that could be recreated for around £100k.

I know Rob's been successful with Catherine Wheel and as a solo artist, (so please don't take this the wrong way, Rob, if you read this) but I can't help but think of Creme Brulee from League of Gentlemen:

Just been watching that - that is a lovely 993. Gets past the 358 in the end, too!

Doesn't sound any different than what the plethora of Harley customizers seek to do--finding a niche in the flooded waters of 911 ownership.

If he's successful, and it seems he is, more power to him.

It really is an incredibly beautiful car, not seen a 911 look better to my eyes.

Hmm. You might want to check out these two SWB hotrods:

Would be nice, but the 911 is uniquely suited to this due to the small changes in chassis/engine/gearbox between the original 911 and the 993.

Not sure a speed 12 engine in a Tamair would be quite as easy smile

Ah, but with TVR all the chassis from Griffith onwards are dimensionally very similar save the Cerbera's extra length, and within the three basic flavours of engine - RV8, AJP8 and S6 - there's huge scope for individual permutations. Then there is the innovation within the aftermarket - ACT, SC-Power, TVR Power et al).

My personal preference is for keeping the basic mechanical configuration and refining/improving it rather than creating hot rods/mongrels that will in all probability be virtually undriveable as per your Taimar/Speed 12 example.

With the 911 I guess the market is people preferring the aesthetics, focus and simplicity of the '60s/70s models but wanting to combine that with modern brakes, grip and 9to a point) power - with '90s TVRs it's more a case of nailing the final 10% that Blackpool didn't quite manage...

I think this kind of 're making' of classic cars will only become more popular as modern cars are ever more constrained by legislation in terms of appearance etc

lets just hope that the EU doesnt put a stop to it with ever stricter SVA type testing for modified cars.

I personally would love to do this with a Capri, all modern bits to bring the performance up to date but the same basic shape, and also as a viable and (semi?) comfortable road car too, not a mentalist track / drag monster (i'll have one of those too please) biggrin

I agree with Harris and this poster that in reality someone with real rallying experience with these cars would be in a better position to design and sign off the chassis (not the cosmetics mind) than a enthusiast in cally.

What was so sad was that Harris, like usual, never really explained how that awesome Tithill Porsche drove, how did it really compare to something like a 911 gt3 on a challenging road. He said it was his favorite car he'd ever owned and yet sold it faster than Bolt. I know he once commented that the tuthill was actually faster than the GT3; but a better handling car- that I'd like to know. But as is the usual with harris, his pompousness always gets the best of him. Indeed just like all the other cars he "buys" they come and go like the journalists at evo. BTW it is fun using these silly analogy thingy's like the auto jouno's do. j
