Rate my tyre setup
Discussion
Okay I got some new wheels for my Peugeot 306 Dturbo (modified) so I had to get some tyres as well. As I don't have many work hours I had to get some part worns and I was hoping I got get some matching on both axles but I could only get one axle matching much to my annoyance I have Sava tyres on the front (these really look the part) and an Admiral 'Powermax' and an Autogrip 'F101' on the rear. Now, I know the matching pair is supposed to be on the back to reduce oversteer but if you think about it you are only leaning on one tyre at a time when cornering so the other side isn't under much load at all. Now, I have driven hard on many a B road with this setup and the car does feel remarkably composed even with these less than ideal brands and setup, but then it is lowered by 35mm which could be why the handling is good even on inferior tyres.
I must say, the Autogrip F101 feels like it has the worst compound, it is hard and plasticy, not so much a problem in this hot weather but in the winter in near freezing conditions I would be nervous when turning left! The Savas have soft and squidgy feeling sidewalls but the treads are fairly hard, although much better than the Autogrip. The Admiral Powermax has by far the best feeling compound, it feels soft fairly pliable without the tread blocks moving around much, this could be expected because they are made by Kumho after all.

I'd rate your tyre set up as absolutely piss poor. I never buy anything other than new bridgestones.
Then again, it's going on a diesel 306.
Mate theres no need to be like that a 306 is a proper enthusiasts car! Besides it's not just any old diesel 306 it is modified. Just cause you are rich doesn't mean you have to be snobbish buying brand new Bridgestone tyres is way over the top when you can get good tread part worns anyway. At the end of the day right, we are all car enthusiasts and we like to have a nice rag so we all have something in common. By the way, Admiral is made by Kumho so they are good. Then again, it's going on a diesel 306.

Did you really expect everyone to tell you you'd done a great job with your choices? MTFU, you fool.

What sort of modifications have you done?
Your "set up" sounds pretty rough.
Well my modifications are sparse at the moment but this is the list no far:Your "set up" sounds pretty rough.
Lowered 35mm
Sideskirts
406 Coupe wheels
Turned up fuel pump
Mintex brake discs
Braided brake hoses
Decat and backbox delete
Plenty more in the pipeline when I can afford it.

Can we start a book on how much OP paid for 4 quality tyres ?
£20 max is my offer
Shirley not more than that ?

Troll?
In all seriousness, IME by far the best value for money tyres are Uniroyals; don't know the size of the wheels you're running but I'd presume on a 306 it'd be Rainexperts. The Rainsport 2's are supposedly better still. I've put my money where my mouth is; £45 a corner fitted and balanced, and they've absolutely transformed my Astra. Very, very good in the wet especially.
