I WAS AT FOS BONHAMS AUCTION ALL DAY AWSOME
CHRIS EVANS WAS THERE BRIEFLY SNIFFING AT FERRARI'S BUT THINK HE WAS AFTER THE FERRARI LUGGAGE IN BACK OF ONE OF THEM RATHER THAN THE CAR
THE ASTON V8 SERIES 2 SOLD FOR £5200 PLUS BUYERS PREMIUM SO £6K THE ESTIMATE WAS £10K - £15K
IT WAS not a bargain!
IT WAS SO ROUGH I CANNOT BEGIN TO EXPLAIN
I LOVE THESE CARS AND WOULD HAVE BEEN TEMPTED AT £15K ESPECIALLY FOR A ROAD TAX FREE ONE
BUT IT WAS TERRIBLE NEEDED SO MUCH WORK TO DO PROPERLY AND WORSE STILL IT HAD BEEN BOTCHED ALL OVER FILLER EVERYWHERE AND CRACKED AND DRIPS OF SPRAY PAINT LOOKED LIKE MY KIDS HAD BOTCHED IT USING HALFORDS SPRAY CANS AND THE CREAM LEATHER INTERIOR WAS GLOSS PAINTED (DULUX MAGNOLIA?) TO TRY AND HIDE ANY WEAR AND TEAR.
I WAS SO PLEASED I WAS NOT A PHONE BIDDER AS THE PHOTOS OF IT IN THE CATALOGUE AND ON LINE LOOK OKAY
IT WAS GOOD FOR SPARES ONLY OR A £25K - £30K RESTORATION.
GOOD LUCK TO WHO EVER BOUGHT IT
I JUST FEEL SORRY FOR THE NEXT PURCHASER IF NOT RESTORED PROPERLY AND BOTCHED AGAIN
BARGAIN OF THE AUCTION FOR LOW MONEY IF YOU ONLY HAD £12K WAS LOT 443 ESTIMATED £8K - £12K
A beautiful well looked after
PORSCHE 928 S4 GT WHICH WAS SITED NEXT TO THE ROUGH V8
IT SOLD FOR £10K PLUS BUYER PREMIUM
ALSO THE
1973 De Tomaso Pantera Berlinetta to GTS specification WAS A BEAUTY FOR
£36,150 inclusive of Buyer's Premium
I WISH I HAD A SPARE £36K IN THE BANK
CHECK OUT LINK BELOW FOR FULL RESULTS OF AUCTION THIS LINK IS FOR LAST PAGE OF ALL THE CARS SO GO BACK A PAGE

Any pics of the 928 GT? A mate sold a lovely 928 manual GT with factory Aero kit some years ago. Loved that car.

That'll be my new car then!!!

HEADLINES - PH-er buys Goodwood Bonhams car

I was actually bidding on the phone from Singapore at 1am. I am not going to see the car until September but I cannot wait. Bonhams say that the car is immaculate, engine is show condition, drives well, just re-commissioned with a full service and those glorious Hall 180-degree headers. The noise is QUOTE Absurd.
An article in top gear with a pantera owner got me into cars- brilliant!

All very complimentary comments about the Pantera, thank you. Only 8 weeks and 2 days until I get to drive it. Could well be the longest 8 weeks of my life. I'll make sure that it goes to PH Wilton Supercar day in some way, shape or form.

Probably one of the worst places to buy a classic IMHO - high profile event, no chance to check cars out, images not representative if phone bidder, and why would you want to pay a pemium on top of the cars value just to line someone elses pocket. Stick with the classifieds in Classic / Motor Sport etc and develop a relationship with a trusted expert

And dont get me started on Chris Evans...

Not pretty in pink
as i mentioned on the other thread, 100% sure this is an ex Singapore car as there cannot be two people who have painted their Zonda Pink!

have seen it about a few times and it does not look good in that colour, but close your eyes, listen and all is forgiven!

yes If it was given to me, I'd happily drive it around the rest of my life. Can't see that colour from the inside.

I think it depends on the car. As has been said before, some cars made within the estimate or even below it. Sometimes the car you want turns up at an auction like this and if you didn't go for it, you may have to wait years for another chance.

I bought the 1984 Aston Martin Lagonda. It was at the wrong end of the country, and I bought unseen, but I am still happy with the purchase. If it had gone to the trade, I would expect it to appear slightly tarted up for +10k in a month or so.

If anyone has any pictures of it from the auction, please PM me.

Jonathan.

I agee with what you said above but you're in Cheshire, no? If I was spending the money you were I'd have been by the side of the car when it was auctioned. Cheshire to Goodwood is a decent drive yes but I've driven further than that to see cars many times (and not bought them) ...

I'm sure the car is lovely though and ou've bought well - although blind.
