I can see no logical reason to buy anything more plush than a Mondeo. Car buying isn't particularly logical. If I was rich and I had to drive in cities a lot, I'd have one. I can't think of anything else that would provide the same level of comfort whilst still being as easy to drive in a crowded city. I agree. He lives slap bang in the centre of London. Why not drive a Cygnet? Makes sense to me. (especially as the other posters point out that he'll have struck a hard bargain - he's legendary for that).

Slightly O/T..... I thought that Aston actually made too few cars to be impacted by the emissions regulations anyway, making the Cygnet completly pointless in the avg CO2 stakes? Wouldn't they need to triple production to be impacted? I think that's probably the point of this. Get a British racing legend to say he's bought the car for his wife and refer to it as, "A proper little piece of British luxury." as a marketing exercise. That way people see it as British rather than a rehashed Japanese runabout. Stirling Moss was show in Top Gear Magazine getting quite excited by the Toyota iQ so he does like the car.

i actually like it. would i have one? nope, not on your nelly, but i can see their appeal. ok, its a toyota (nowt wrong with toyatas) rebadged and blinged a bit with a hefty price tag. BUT it has an AM badge, and for the wealthy who want a small car with a prestige badge, it'll do very nicely indeed.

Speaking of small cars for city centres etc... What's happening with Murray's project (can't remember the name now) of small, fun, light and economical car?

Is the Cygnet-bashing thread the new Focus RS should-have-been-4WD thread?

LuS1fer said: If this car has shorter springs, does that mean you have a lower iQ? It's probably all a misunderstanding, Mrs M actually said she wanted a signet ring, which was heard as 'a cygnet thing'. I saw one in my local AM dealer recently; looked a bit out of place, IMHO.

Years ago, at Mercedes World, Stirling Moss 'bought' his wife a Smart car, she must hate modern cars by now...

I cant help wondering if the Cygnet will start a new modifying craze with people tarting up their IQs with aston badges and wheels off a 1995 DB7.

He's developing the T.27, the same car as the T.25 but electric. He's talking to three potential licensees about building it and he's performing live crash tests on it.
