i rate the puma highly. i saw a mint silver one recently and it still looked good. if ford brought out a new puma, i think it would sell.

Definitely not my cup of tea, but, good luck with the car, Riggers.

Awesome vehicle!

I wish Laird would let me have mine back!!
He said something about it being right for "this period in his life" when I spoke to him last, whatever that means. I didn't like the way he was touching me.

Excellent sheddage though. More fun than they should be an buttons to run - like quite a Fords in fact.

I had one before my current mx5 and i keep looking at them as a replacement again. anyone who hasn't driven one should they really are cracking cars. Rusty arches are a pain though.

Glad you are enjoying it Riggers - great cars. I intended to use mine as a stopgap for a couple of weeks - i'm still tooling around in it 3 years later. Mine is proper with OE rusty arches.

Don't get any grand ideas about the TC system. It's bullst and IIRC only works below 12mph - you know the type of speed where you are really exploring the limits of grip. biggrin

I was more in the Tigra camp (no pun intended)

First car I saw with an electric window that lowered itself slightly so you could slam the back door shut (seriously no pun intended!)

If the Puma was a bit girly then a Tigra was the ultimate girls car. Difference is though the Puma is actually a very good car.

Handled very well though - great feeling of 'wheel on each corner' and the 1.6 variety was a healthy power / weight / agility balance.

...but I can't defend it's image tongue out

Ford Puma's are superb little cars - I'd have one in a flash if the need arose.

The Thunder edition wheels arent as nice as the fan blade/turbine style ones are they really? There were a bit of a 'feature' of the Puma.

Only last night I was in my local Motorfactors and there was a very nice Red one, zero rust, lovely condition. Thought it looked great.
I never liked the turbines... much preferred the multi spoke jobs from the Fiesta Zetec-S phase 2, that shipped on the Thunder.

Riggers, how dare you link to my glorious Lexus in the context of Shed.

I've reached a decision.......Matt Rigby. You're fired.

just shows how difficult the car industry is, a car that so many people like, looked great, drove well and should have opened a continual market for Ford. Bit of a golden era really, choice of this Mx5 (esp mk1), series 1 Elise, and all reasonable prices.

Looks well that. Puma's certianly seem to be one of the top re-occuring sheds that I see when browsing for under £1,250!

Gotta ask a general question about sheds, do you guys bother servicing them? If you're just waiting for them to die anyway... I've owned 7 cars and only ever serviced 2 of them because they already had service history and were/are worth a lot of money! Whereas my cheaper cars came service history free lol, and I just kept it up.

My Corsa (which is now my mum's) has been going nearly 9 years without a service and it's still running really well! It's worth about £250 now lol.

Great shed - I have actually given some thought lately to picking up one of these myself to run as a daily workhorse in the winter.

Seems a shame to scrap a 328 over a head gasket.

Hopefully the scrap dealer will sell it as a car - surely it would have got more on Ebay from a DIYer ?

Pumas are great little cars though.

More fun than that Bavarian BOS. I had a 1.7i - 9yrs. Nothing, absolutely nothing went wrong with it. Except - ahem - a pair of shagged driveshafts but I put that down to the abuse the car had laddled at at. A great shed - and a very highly underated car.

All the naysayesr haven't driven one. Best FWD gearchange - end of.

'tis. But I promise you it was quite ratty. It's been in the PH classifieds for 7 weeks, with no serious bites even at £395 ono... I ran out of patience with it, TBH smile
