Two words - st brakes.

My sister had one of these. Ultra cool at the time but the bodyshell was as weak and rustprone as the standard models....

It had a plate change to try to hide the original identity of the car,it's since been changed back and not only for show.

It shows a picture of a focus RS plaque as 1 out of 500 wheras its actually 1 of 100. I noticed this when we had a pre facelift ST500 in at work that also had a 1/500 plaque, we couldnt believe it until we found out.

Jonny
I hate to tell you this jonny, but I worked at ford and all the st500's had the sticker 1 of 500! I sold 4 of them and I also thought I had sold the 1st one! The rules were once the order was placed, you emailed ford with vin and they then sent you the st500 badge and the 1 of 500 sticker! Very sneaky of them but I'm sure your not the only one that thinks this! On the plus side, are you aware your car has launch control? All st2/3/500 have it! Just floor it in 1st with the clutch in and it will hold the revs at 3000 rpm, then bang the clutch out! Hope that softens the bad news! Cheers

Well this thread takes me back to the mid 90's.....
I was working in Royston, Hertfordshire just after finishing Uni. I got to know a young man who was a friend of someone I worked with at the time. He often drove a black RS turbo (I think it belonged to his Mam). I was drooling over it one day and can clearly remember him telling me that it used to belong to Diana. At the time, I took that statement with a pinch of salt. Maybe he was telling me the truth after all.....

Superb, not jealous, just full of admiration, oh to have the money to do stuff like that, actually I suspect with RS Fords, purchased and kept like this it probably one of the best investments you could make in the current climate.

About 10 years ago a mate of mine had a B plate BMW 528i which used to belong to James Hewitt, that would be nice to go alongside the Escort...

The Mallard Green Sierra cosworth was bought by my old man from new. Picked it up from bridgend ford. Part execed his escort cosworth for it.
He swapped it in the end for a Lotus Carlton.

part exed to Nash of Cardiff for the Lotus Carlton who sold it on to the MD of Fordthorne in Cardiff who then sold it to Mark a few years ago. The story I was told your dad had two LCs? one for everyday and one for best?

The Bonkers collection has been thinned out in recent years, Marks apparently mixing the collection up a bit now and only kept some of the prime RS models

Yes that's right. Although he only had 1 Carlton . It seemed like two as he used it for a while and enjoyed its performance possibly more than he should of and was tipped off by a local BIB that he was been kept an eye on and that he should either be a good boy in it or get ride of it! So he put it in the garage for a little while and drove a Renault 1916v round. Then brought it back out when the dust settled. Different times back then.

In fairness to the old man he loved his Cossies. He had EVERY type of Sierra bar rs500 every produced. Big wing, 2wd sapphire 2 4wd shapphies and a big turbo escort.
