Poor show PH.
Yep, I'm afraid he's right. Poor show PH.
Does this prove that the decent, cheap, unmolested Impreza is a myth, then? Can I challenge someone to find me a clean, unmolested one within Shed's budget?

Ah well, you can't win 'em all. I wouldn't put my money towards it, I admit, but I do quite like it

Loved my Imprezas and I would have another one tomorrow if my garage wasnt full of decaying E30s.
If the engine is still standard then it must have missed a few oil changes to have gone wrong, I've seen a few high milers that were well looked after that have been fine but these get driven hard and need good oil and regularly, oh and cam belts and fuel pumps other than that there pretty good.
This is a donar car really, if you'e got a crash damaged one with a good motor it would be worth a look.

Close... any more for any more?
Ok, an import (not a 2003) but if the 85k miles is correct, I'd say this is a much better bet for an extra couple of hundred, even if it does need a MoT. £895http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2011...

Worst shed for some time this.
Not so much the choice of car (plenty of decent ones for under a bag), but this particular one is just a money pit waiting to happen.
You'd have to be madly optimistic to buy this and hope it's anything other than big ends going, though my old Legacy Turbo did have an intermittently knocking lifter that sounded ominous, but wasn't.
Buying a car that needs a new engine isn't what Shed is about.
Try again PH!
