RE: Pic Of The Week: McLaren MP4-12C
Discussion
the name is st though
with the porsche or the bmw, you've got your 'base' name in there, the 3 series, the 911, then individual model names develop from that - you don't always have to use the full name (like my old Honda FireBlade CBR900RR(R) )
it's hard to know where McLaren are going with that name though, is it a 'stand-alone' name or will future cars also be MP4s (but not 12Cs) for instance?

i'm pretty sure they'll have MP4, in which case you'll just call this car the 12C.with the porsche or the bmw, you've got your 'base' name in there, the 3 series, the 911, then individual model names develop from that - you don't always have to use the full name (like my old Honda FireBlade CBR900RR(R) )

As somebody mentioned earlier, at the moment it's simply known as 'the McLaren' - where's the problem?
I drive a Vauxhall Astra 1.7CDti SRi. It's an Astra. The Ferrari 250GTO has a long name too but I haven't heard anyone complaining - to many owners their Ferrari is 'the Ferrari.'
Haven't we got better things to worry about?

OK, so it's a 12C then
sounds much better already
yup. because i'm sure many prospective owners were put off buying because of the name sounds much better already
edit - also, who actually uses the word "dash" in the name? i either call it the 12C or MP4 12C. it's no worse a name than 500SLC (nice car btw)

with all this 'the car has not got a good name' and 'sounds like a washing machine model' how about the almost as ludicrous... Lamborghini LP640 SV, now.... aint that a catchy name...........
But i digress... it is the british way i suppose to slag off our own technological acheivements because the dont conform to the 'norm' (german and/or italian)
