130i. Hot Hatch, no one likes it except the people that own them, who adore them.
I concur... and actually potentially unusual - only ~1000 in the UK.

Here's my little beauty:

I also agree, certainly a left field choice, and possibly one of the best / last of the decent steering NA BMW's of recent times. Surely with yours being 3dr and an LE it must be ruddy rare!

Eta: I'd love to read about a beetle RSI though. Saw my first ever one when in Spain on hols last month!!

Good point.

But that was when diesels were still desperately slow.
I had one and while it looked and handled like a gti, it sounded like a tractor.

...but I'll go with the real rarity, the 146 Ti.
Makes me feel somewhat bad for scrapping mine last week frown Second the 146 or 145 nominations however.
Not that I've driven one, but has the Rover 200 BRM been suggested yet?

I'm a definite lover of unusual hatches, so some from my past (some of which have been mentioned, and some may not be as hot as others):
Pug 309 SRi
Pug 205 XS
Rover 216 GTi TC
Pug 205 Dturbo
Citroen Xsara VTS
Volvo 480 Turbo
Citroen BX 16v
Opel Manta GTE
Rover 216 GTi TC
Rover SD1 Vitesse (pushing the boundaries a bit there...)
Suzuki Swift GTi
Citroen Xsara VTS
Volvo 360 GLT

How's that? I loved all of those cars and miss a few of them massively.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but the Rover 220GSI Turbo was very rare... Not the coupe.

Afaik it was not sold in UK -hence the confusion over its existence

I've not looked through previous pages, but has anyone suggested the Daihatsu Charade GTTI? Or Alfa 145 Cloverleaf?

How have I missed this? I've got not only a Skoda Octavia vRS, but also a Peugeot 205 GTI to compare it to. biggrin

I've also had a few random other hot hatches - 205 XS is always overlooked. Allegro 1275 S anyone?

This hatch was fairly hot. But best not to drop a valve seat.... frown

Pulsar is kind of unusual, but not one of the real rarities/underdogs that I think this thread is aimed at (otherwise it would get my vote as I have one!)

Fiat Uno Turbo Mk2 would be my shout - I had one of these years ago and would love another, but they just seem to have been erased from existance!

I still personally think my little corolla vvtli is somewhat underrated.
I recall evo listed it as the second worst car they'd ever road tested in their 100th issue special . Way too harsh.

Of course. It doesn't have a Porsche badge. rolleyes

As you can probably guess, I stopped buying evo some time ago.

Don't get me wrong- I'm not saying it's the second coming of the Pug 205 GTi. hehe

But "second worst car ever" sounds like a comment from the the Comic Book Guy in the Simpsons- it's lazy and exaggerates how bad it is. There are plenty of worse cars.

The Xsara VTS has been mentioned a couple of times.

I had one and loved it, was the underdog to the 306 GTi, while using the same engine and a different box.

It was superb ....
