Don't get me wrong- I'm not saying it's the second coming of the Pug 205 GTi. hehe

But "second worst car ever" sounds like a comment from the the Comic Book Guy in the Simpsons- it's lazy and exaggerates how bad it is. There are plenty of worse cars.
i agree the engine does sound good but more like a gt small car..

Fiat Uno Turbo Mk2 would be my shout - I had one of these years ago and would love another, but they just seem to have been erased from rusted out of existance!

me too - and incredibly reliable, before the French-car haters start.

But I have to say I miss my Uno Turbo more - black with red seatbelts and carpets - how cool is that for an 18-year old.

This hatch was fairly hot. But best not to drop a valve seat.... frown
I was going to post about my old MG Metro Turbo, but they weren't all that rare. Or unusual.

Great fun once I had the suspension replaced with proper springs though.

Figured mine wasn't economical to repair when the radius arm bearing went at 196,000 miles frown

Never drove an Uno turbo, but a mate had a basic Uno and while it certainly went well I could never get on with the pedal positioning.

I know what you mean about the cornering though- I had a 99 Corolla 1.3 and drove my then-girlfriend's dad's later shape (2005ish) Corolla a few times. Both felt more like boats than cars to steer. I had to slow to 25mph to take corners my brother's 306 diesel could take at 40...

They are very rare indeed these days. I believe the number of Mk1 Turbos remaining registered is in single digits, and there's only 45 left in total according to How Many Left.

This is my suggestion:

I know it has the dreaded Griffin on the badge, but it really was a good car. Quick enough to embarrass RS Turbos (at least standard ones) but would return 40mpg easily on a run, and had a huge boot. On the downside, handling and rust proofing weren't exactly state of the art.

How about a Toyota Auris SR180?
Quite new and must be somewhat rare on our roads but not so charismatic as some of the other cars mentioned in this thread biggrin
