How about a Honda Integra DC5 (the import)? if that can even be classed as a hatchback.

Surely the Stilo Abarth is about to be thrust into the limelight for a brief spell.

I always wanted a Fiat 127 Sport back in the Day, so find one of them that has not rusted to dust

Would be nice to see some praise for the Nissan Pulsar Gti-R and the Mazda Familia (323) GTR.

I own the former and a friend owns the latter, both in bits undergoing restoration though so we are not much use. hehe

Stilo Abarth has to be on the list? but it is more of a warm hatch than hot. That 5 pot motor is wonderful though.

Can I come along with my deliciously standard and well looked after mk1 Cupra R?

Almera GTi - sadly all rusting away now, but definitely under-rated and forgotten IMO.

Ibiza GTi Cupra 16v from the mid 90's?

Always fancied one but by the time I had the money they'd all been barried / ragged to hell and back.

Shame as they made a lot of sense to me with the Golfs 16v lump up front.

I wouldnt say the Mkl Cupra R is an underdog. It was near the top of its tree along with the CTR and there are thousands of them around.

90's Corolla GTI. 129bhp from a 1.6 in 1991 was quite something.
Really? Honda were getting 160bhp from the 1.6 VTEC in the early 90's CRX.

Mazda 323 4x4 1.6 turbo, a forgotten gem from the 80s.

Toyota Corolla 1600 16V GTI(RSI), another forgotten screamer of an engine. (beaten to it)

Would you class a CRX as a hot hatch?

The Seat Leon Curpa R was one I thought of when I read the thread title. Fantastic looks, great performance, good value. There isn't much in the way of hot hatches that can touch it when it comes to having strengths in so many areas.

What's unusual about it exactly?
