51 NGH on the Can-am is owned by Peter Virdee. He has a few other nice numbers too. It was posted earlier in the thread: Shmee said: TopGear7 said: Picking up on a very old post but this might be of interest: And that might not be his entire collection

Robert C said: Got an email from the DVLA advertising a forthcoming Number Plate Sale Going to the site http://dvlaauction.co.uk/registrations.asp, there is a little note at the top in red saying Lot 1491 has been withdrawn from the sale.....!! I wonder why! Robert For those of you wondering (as it's been removed from a lot of lists) lot 1491 was WA11 KER I saw it too in the original list and was surprised it got through.....

Absolutely - what a pair (fnarr!) UUU 1 issued in London in 1957, 1 UUU sold for £6900 by DVLA in 2002 - I know U is an unpopular letter, but that seems a bargain for such a striking plate copared to some of the terrible chavery being hawked at the mo!

GBDG said: Has this one been posted already? Can anyone shed any light on this - it was never (supposed to be) issued originally, and it does not show up on a DVLA auction search. Jersey plates are all 'forward' J, correct? It is showing up as legitimate on Ask Mid. Was it perhaps a 'civic special' (one-offs issued by councils to their own cars, out of the normal sequence?) Possibly by Durham, who issued 'forward J' and would have had the right to issue 'reverse J' should they have needed to?
